The fire started around 11 a.m. north of State Route 89A and west of Viewpoint Drive, 9 miles south of Chino Valley.

The first evacuation order was for residents along Poquito Valley Road, just north of Acre Way. Orders were were added for the Antelope Meadows neighborhood and residents on Perkinsville Road in the area of the Garchen Buddhist Institute.

“We have about 400 structures threatened at this point, but we have 100 that are actually in the direct line of the fire, so those are the neighborhoods that we are evacuating,” Tiffany Davila of the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

“It’s burning very fast through the dry vegetation in that area,” Davila said.

Fire crews from the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, the Prescott Fire Department and Prescott Wild Land Fire were on scene along with Prescott Valley Police officers and Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies.
