With fame come great cost. A large influx of people coming in from other platforms will destroy Steemit, turning it into just another Facebook or Twitter, by drowning out everyone and killing the reward pool, essentially making Steemit obsolete as a moneymaker. They will also most likely not know anything about crypto, so they will most likely just have a bunch of SBD lying around, never to be used.
My take on it is the quality aspect. The useless posts and comments will be ignored and die - while the quality articles and thoughtful comments will be rewarded - bringing them to the surface so to speak. The useless posters will eventually leave if they are not rewarded.
