STOP CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE!!!+AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MISS CHARMING NIGERIA
Hello steemians, my much anticipated article is here. These past days have been meditative for me as this topic have been ringing in my head; thinking of a way out of this mess.
In my quest for opinions and advice on this menace, I happen to meet one of the most beautiful girl in our country right now and she also had something to say about sexual abuse. She also hosted a seminar on this topic recently which makes her the perfect person for the interview on this topic.
To the deal of the day; sexual molestation/abuse is no longer a news, in fact, people no longer place priority on it like they do to terrorist attacks. The truth is there is no other terror worse than that which lives in your head for a life time due to an event, just one event and one can suffer from its consequence for a life time. Just like cancer it eats deep into the mind of its victim and suicide becomes the last resort.
Child sexual abuse is a form of child abuse that involves an adult using a child for sexual stimulations. It majorly occurs in these spheres of the society; home, and school. According to Wikipedia, its prevalence have been estimated to be 19.7% for females, and 7.9% for males with the offenders having an estimate of 30% for the close relatives and 70% for friends of the child’s relative. Paedophile is the word used to describe those who perpetuate this act but i prefer to call them Demons. After effect of this evil often lead the child to depression, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, not to mention injuries sustained and sexually transmitted diseases. This is very appalling because of the category of people that are the victims. In the case of an adult to adult molestation, we can atleast assume that the adult victim can get over it with the course of time. For a kid, it is entirely different as their orientation to sex changes completely. The child may end up becoming a bully in school or worse; getting attracted to same sex if the molestation was done by a person of same sex to the child. My definition of kids here ranges from age 0- 12years.
children are no longer safe anywhere so what can be done to curb this?
LAWS
According to UNICEF in 2015, one in every four girls and one in every ten boys in Nigeria have experienced sexual violence before age 18. With this rate, there should be more strict laws on offenders like life imprisonment. Also there should be a good security measures and regulation in place where children are the utmost population like schools.
EDUCATION
Even the Bible tells us that:
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:...
There must be awareness to these little ones so they could read the hand writing on the wall when someone starts acting in a manner they can’t comprehend. This is very much applicable for the male children also. Although there are few cases of males facing this menace but it’s still needed.
DEFENCE
As much as I don’t support violence especially amongst children, desperate times also call for desperate measures. Especially for the female kids, there can be little tutorial giving to them on how to break free and scream even though their strength is nothing compared to the adult committing the act.
having said these, I would love to introduce you all to a special person whom I had the privilege to interview concerning this topic. A friend and a Queen, Steemians, meet the Current MISS CHARMING NIGERIA; Miss Precious Nwodo.
Miss charming nigeria and @jemimah
A brief introduction will be perfect for a start
My name is Miss Precious Tochukwu Nwodo a 400 level medical laboratory science student in the university of Nigeria Enugu campus. I hail from isi uzo local government area in Enugu State Nigeria and I am the last born of my family too.
before the main issue to be discussed, how has it been so far as the Crowned Miss Charming of Nigeria?
As crowned Miss Charming Nigeria 2017 since October 2017, the journey has been so great, beautiful, challenging and above all kinda of stress too because to whom much is given, much is also expected so I would say it's been fine all thanks to God for the opportunity.
During the Interview.
I’m well aware that you hosted a seminar recently on this same topic being discussed, what prompted that and what was achieved by that event?
The public lecture was actually my first pet project as Miss Charming Nigeria 2017 which took place at the Main Hall Unec Enugu State on Monday January 15th 2018 tagged war against rape and sexual molestation in our country Nigeria. I was heartbroken to see youths and students been misled and molested not knowing possible risk factors which can endanger them to the monster called rape, apart from that, molestation has been the order of the day in our country that was actually what prompted me to do so coupled with the fact that Miss Charming beauty pageant gave me the platform to do so. What was really achieved in the event is inexhaustible because students from sec school and university, youths all over campuses were enlightened on the theme by great speakers like the chief justice of Enugu State Justice Ngozika Emehelu, former minister of women affairs Hon Barr Josephine Anenih, Queen Precious Nwodo to mention but mention but a few. I felt glad that the information has been passed across.
Here are some photos from the event:

Miss Charming about to address the audience.
Miss Charming speaking on "war against rape and sexual molestation in Nigeria"
what do you think can be done by our education system to enlighten the youths about this act?
Alot can be done, our educational system can organise public lectures in various schools with experienced persons speaking, have an online broadcast on the internet because these days alot of our youths are online 24hours without even the purpose for browsing. So with these 2 major areas the youths can be enlightened.
we live in an environment where the males are not really considered to be part of sexual molestation, what do you have to say about that
Exactly, I was expecting that question all the while. In the case rape, not only females are raped in this 21st century males are also raped our country has gone haywire in this case because a lot of our males have been molested but term to keep mute because they think when they open up, people will look at them as an inferior individual with no manly attribute. So males are involved in this and they should not be left aside.
Still on the Interview with Miss Charming Nigeria.
back to you as Miss Charming, what other aims do you have to achieve through this position?
God's willing I have a lot yet unveiling before I handover gone are the days were beauty queens are just for catwalks alone but now it's beauty and brain. So as time goes on my pet project unfolds like more public lecture, fashion weeks, courtesy visits and many more.
lastly, you definitely have heard about steemit, when are we going to see an @misscharming account on steemit?
Soonest!
Thank you for your time and for the answers provided, it is an honour doing this with you. See you on steemit soon. I will draw the curtain here but that’s not the end. Let’s take the message of child molestation to the ends of the earth and see that our children can grow up safe and sound.

Sure. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you for sharing this great interview with this beautiful lady who is a great inspiration and who is changing the world by spreading the awareness on this topic which needs to stop.
The greatest problem of rape is how worse it leaves it's victim afterwards. Like you said, it's a cancer that eats deep into their mind till suicidal thoughts starts to set in.
Nice work from you and miss charming..
Good job and a very important topic!!
Raising awareness is key!! Thanks @jemimah!!
Thank for your support. I will keep doing that.

Kinda heavy topic to discuss but it happens anywhere.
Enough and need to STOP now!
Enough is enough.. We must ensure proper growth and development for our children.
It's amazing that she is using her position to spread the word and awareness about such a big problem.
You did an awesome job with the interview!
That is why I had to interview her. She really doing great with her position
Such a wonderful article, interview and important topic to discuss. It breaks my heart to know how many children are actually sexually abused and we might not even hear about all cases.
ENOUGH NOW! STOP IT NOW!
Its not funny seeing that the society does not recognise this menace as a priority any more. Kids need to be safe
