I saw a big male magpie taking refugee on my deck

At the moment there seems to be warfare taking place with the bird life! I am not sure whether it is a calculated guess or not? I am just an observer watching.

But, I see anxious magpies at our door when they visit for meat. Instead of just eating, they pause, look and scan the yard and rooftops. I hear magpies at a distance talking to them and they talk back, it is like the grapevine of magpie communication. Eventually, they eat some meat and then quickly fly off as I hear crows on the TV antenna next door ark parking.

Then I found out by chance that the Australian minor birds were also attacking the magpies. One arrived with a few minors closed behind snapping away.

After being fed this morning one big male magpie sat on a chair for a long time. I did not worry about the mess it might make because I know it needed a neutral space to rest. I can at least do that for the magpies under siege!
