Ferrari wins thrilling 2018 Bahrain Granprix!
Whether you were a Ferrari F1 team fan or not, the Bahrain Grandprix was a an edge of a seat thriller, where a brilliant drive by Sebastian Vettel, ensured he took the second grandprix victory of the 2018 season. A perfect start to the 2018 world championship campaign!
What was supposed to a 2 pit stop strategy, Sebastian Vettel was forced to change to just one pit stop, which meant he had to look after his "soft" tyres through to the end of the race, after both Mercedes cars were only going to do only one pit stop and change to the more durable "hard" compound tyres.
I must admit it was a very tense race and towards the end of the last few laps, it looked like Bottas in the Mercedes was going to take the lead, as he had more life left in his tyres. But a master class of a drive from Vettel, meant he fended off the challenge and went on to take one of his best wins of his career.
It was a shame that the second Ferrari car of Kimi Raikkonen had to retire, by a dramatic pit stop, in one which he unfortunately ran over one of his mechanic.
Other than this unfortunate incident, it was great to see the beatiful Red Ferrari race cars looking so dominant and winning both races of the 2018 season...roll on the 19 more races to come!
