Mindhunter [New show on Netflix, pretty amazing] [mini review, recommendation]
A show about people who invented the term 'serial killer'.
What drew my attention to this show in the first place was the fact that David Fincher himself was directing 3 episodes. David Fincher already did 3 movies about serial killers and is probably serial killer himself, i thought, so he wouldn't be involved in another similar project if he didn't think this will bring something more to the table. I just finished binge watching it and i can say i was right. It's very similar in tone to Finchers Zodiac (which i think is masterpiece), and moves the story through dialog in a way House of Cards started doing, so it's a nice mix of Finchers styles. Where this show shines is the long slow burning interviews with the killers - each time the show forces audience to solve characteristic puzzle with FBI agents together, getting more and more depraved with each interview.
It's not really an action adventure, so if you're after more pulpy CSI type show, this won't be for you. But if you liked Zodiac or House of Cards you will love this.
