Investing: Buying good stocks at reasonable prices is what matters.

I most often write about my cryptocurrency investments on Steemit, but the vast majority of my money is actually in regular stocks and funds. A few weeks back in invested in a real estate stock named STORE, which stands for single tenant operating real estate. This company just owns buildings. If you want to build a new gym, bowling alley, gas station or restaurant they will build it for you and lease it back to you on a 10 or 20 years contract. Since most of the property is commercial in nature it has been labeled as shops (even if they are not), and shopping centers are out of favor right now because of the Amazon effect. This caused the price to be depressed to less than $20 per share. Seeing a mispricing I bought some stock at around $20.50 which I didn't consider very good since a few days later the share had been as low as $19.
Then today the company announced that Warren Buffet had become a major shareholder at around $200. This was the result:

conclusions:

  • If you see value somewhere, be it in a stock or a coin, don't hesitate to invest. At some point other people will see the value too.

  • If you back the right stock or coin you do not need to get the very best price to make a profit, you just need a good price. So don't beat yourself if you missed the bottom.
