Under Fire film and historical facts
Directed by Roger Spottiswoode 35 years ago; The film Under Fire, starring Nick Nolte, Joanna Cassidy, Gene Hackman, Ed Harris and Jean-Louis Trintignant, gave the Nicaraguan Revolution a worldwide sympathy.
The film was accompanied by journalist-photographer Russell Price, who went to the country to watch the civil war of Sandinist dissidents against President Anastasio Somoza, with two of his friends and colleagues.
The protagonist, Russell, felt the need to watch the war more closely, and the events unfolded as he saw the Somoza army's atrocities against the people.
