Hello, people of Steemit! Welcome to my page.

This post is about my Webley & Scott Mk 4 British service pistol.

These revolvers were produced from after World War 1 to after World War 2. This was the standard issue service revolver For the British and Commonwealth armies from1932 until 1963 when they were finally replaced by the Browning Hi-Power semi auto pistol. These revolvers were chambered for the .380/200 cartridge in 1932 which was replaced by the .380/mk2 cartridge at the beginning of WW2 because the .380/200 used a lead bullet. The .380 Mk 2 used a 178 grain fully jacketed bullet. The cartridge is basically the .38 Smith and Wesson cartridge with a different loading, and any .38 S&W cartridge can be used in these revolvers. These revolvers are probably the strongest top break design that's been built.

To load and unload these revolvers, you simply push a lever on the back of the frame to unlock the catch, and then pull down on the barrel. The gun opens up like this.

As you open up the revolver, the ejector comes out of the center of the cylinder to push the cartridges out, like this.

When you rotate the barrel all the way down, the extractor drops back into the cylinder, and it's ready for more cartridges to be loaded.
These revolvers are pretty easy to clean without taking the cylinder off the frame, but taking the cylinder off is not difficult. I didn't do that for the pictures on this one. In case you're wondering about the hole through the frame in front of the hammer, that's where the lame safety was installed as per the import laws. It was more of a pain in the butt than it was useful, especially when opening the action, so I removed it. I kept the parts, just in case I decide to sell the revolver.

That's all I have for this post, I hope you found it interesting!

The only downfall for prepping is long range accuacy .

True enough!
Of course, there are a lot of better guns for longer range. This is good for short range self defense, especially for people who are recoil sensitive.

That's a pretty sweet single action. It looks like it's been through some use. Do you know the personal history of this specific firearm?

No, I bought it at a gun show, so I have no history for it except the general history of the type. According to the serial number, this one was made in the 1950s.
These Webleys are all double action revolvers.
