Was out introducing a bit of night fishing with the grand kids the other night. We had rain earlier so I thought they'd have some luck. My grandson said he got hung up on something. We were near an area where they boat launch. We had just moved from a floating dock where they weren't having much luck but since it was night time I wanted to stay out of the inner part of the park because of the homeless that take up residence there during the night. Not that that park has as big a problem as the ones closer in to the city but I've seen homeless camp remnants on a few occasions. Actually while we were there there was one who was out fishing for his dinner who was living in his car who struck up a conversation with us. But it's a well lit area and people tend to come off and on into the parking lot area to sit for a bit. I have a habit of doing it myself, sitting under a light in my car working in a puzzle book on occasion. Anyway I told him to walk uphill on the grassy area and see if he could dislodge his line. He got it dislodged but mentioned there was something really heavy on his line. It took all he had to try and reel it in but once he got it to shore he started laughing because he caught a tape measure. It was in really good shape for having sat in the river water. He said the best part was that he could prove this catch could measure seventeen inches and proceeds to pull the tape out of the tape measure and holds it up for a picture. lol.
