Focus on Those Tasks that Produce Real Results
Successful people do not care how they get there, the only thing that really counts is the result.
There is a good metaphor for this found on the football pitches all around the world. When you play eleven against eleven, there are a lot of factors that decide who will leave the pitch as victor. The team who wins does not have to be the team who plays the best, the winner will be the one who scores the most goals. Goals is what counts, not the beautiful teamplay that does not produce a goal. The only thing that counts is the result; the goal. Nothing else matters to decide who wins and who loses.
Yesterday, I have written about the skills that successful people use to become successful. Effectiveness is one factor. If you want to be successful you should always work harder than the average joe to outwork him. The most efficient people out there do not always work more hours, they focus on getting more done in the same time.
They focus only on those tasks that produce real results. They are very good at prioritizing their time and their tasks. From there, they decide which task produces the most important result and work their way back on the list. They work on one thing at a time and finish the task, before starting another one.
It is an important reminder. If you want to achieve something, people tend to work more hours. That is great, however, always remind yourself that you should focus on the tasks that actually produce results. Do not waste time working on things that do not get you the result you need.
