Entertaining Kids on Lockdown: Tuna and Potato Owls!

Lockdown, the Easter holiday has started. You have a mild hangover from the wine last night. Whatcha gonna do?

I know! An activity with the Little Lady so she doesn't think her daddy is a wine-sodden tramp!

So bring on the Tuna and Potato Owls. Firstly I have a disclaimer to make. This is another recipe from my daughter's cookbook - The Gruffalo Cookbook. It's about as advanced as my brain can be today and this is more about having fun with your kid(s)!!

You will need

3 baking potatoes
1 tin of tuna
1 tablespoon of milk
A knob of butter
A handful of grated cheese
6 sliced black olives
Some slices of cheese
A carrot
Some small spinach leaves
Some oil

To make

Cut your potatoes in half and get your little one to brush with some oil, they can grind some pepper on too

Then stick on a baking tray and cook for 30 to 40 minutes at 220 degrees depending on the size of your totties

Once ready take out the oven and let cool for a bit before scooping out the insides and keeping the skins for later

Mash the scooped out potato with the milk and butter. Kids love the mashing bit! Then add half of your grated cheese and the tuna

Fill up the skins with the mix and wallop them back in the oven for five minutes

This is the best bit for the little ones. Take your loaded skins out of the oven and decorate.

You will have to cut some circles of cheese for the eyes, leaves for the wings and some carrot triangles for the beaks

Get your child to decorate!! I arrange all of the stuff on a plate for them to choose and get on with

And eventually you will have tuna and potato owls!

One happy bunny and some subtle deflection away from daddy's hangover... Hooray!!
