A WILD DONKEY RUM BUCK COCKTAIL 🍹 (PHOTOS + RECIPE)

Greetings Steemit Friends!

On my last foodie adventure, we went exploring on the East End of beautiful St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands for STJ's best bites of traditional island grub.

I told you about my favorite homemade cocktail for my week long getaway, but I forgot to include the recipe in my post!

As I mentioned before, dining and grocery options are a bit more limited on the East End of the island compared to the Cruz Bay area.

So, with whatever glassware I had at my little bungalow, and local ingredients I could find at the nearby grocery store, I created a super casual libation...

A pristine beach on the East End of St. John, USVI.

It's a take off a rum buck (which is like a rum Moscow Mule) with coconut rum, ginger beer and fresh lime juice. Inspired by the frisky wildlife on STJ, I affectionately named it a Wild Donkey Buck!

This recipe is mostly in ratios. So, despite your choice of a tippling vessel it should be easy to make. However, you may need to make a tiny tweak or two...

For instance, say you're swigging from a drunken pirate's drinking tankard, you may want to add a bit more fresh lime juice. The choice is up to you!

Wild Donkey Buck Cocktail Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 fl oz fresh lime juice
1 part coconut rum
2 parts ginger beer or ginger ale

Yield: One serving
Directions: Pour and serve over ice.

See, how easy that was?! Now you're ready to sip (or swig) your Wild Donkey Buck bottoms up! However, do heed caution with your rum bucks, matey. I wouldn't want you to become three sheets to the wind!

And speaking of "bottoms up", while visiting the Caneel Bay Resort, I just happened to catch these naughty island donkeys going buck wild!

Yay or neigh, a Wild Donkey Buck?

Thanks for commenting, upvoting and resteeming this post! I hope my post will inspire you to have some fun. Until next time...

Cheers!

Love the tastes of coconut and ginger, never tried the combination. Thanks for the idea!

Oh, yes, it tastes like the Caribbean to me! You're very welcome and I hope you enjoy your tipple ; )

Thanks for recipe dear @michellectv! Excellent post!

You're very welcome @evgsk!

If you serve me a cocktail with a name like this, after seeing the color of that cocktail and those three fellows!? Hm.. Not sure if I would try it.

Well, then certainly do not try a "cum shot", sir. Or a "blow job" shooter. If the name offends you, you can just call it a Coconut Rum Buck.

Don't worry, I won't. And please, don't sir me.

My apologies. It's the first time I've had a squirrel comment on my cocktail...

I look like you didn't understand me in my comments. English is not my first language so this could happen. I enjoyed your post and I try to make a joke with regard to color and a name.It was a funny combination and the photo of those donkeys was just a cherry on top of the cake. And you reply was even better. I didn't want you to apologize because there is no reason for me to be offended. And with ''please don't sir me'' I didn't know that this is a kind of phrase and the meaning of it. I was just trying to politely ask you that there is no need to call me sir. I really hope that you understand my point and I have another question for you. What did you mean with squirrel comment? Sorry, but I don't understand this one either.

@oldtimer, perhaps it doesn't translate correctly, but sir can have any number of connotations in English, sometimes even just for fun, as in "Yes, sir!" :D Regarding the squirrel comment, I think she's just kidding with you about your profile picture. You do realize it's a picture of a squirrel, and your profile says "Don't touch my acorn"! (ie. what squirrels eat) lol

Sounds like all just a simple language misunderstanding to me... :)
