Idli Sambhar with Crispy Curd Chillies

Today's healthy Indian breakfast:

Idli:

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup Urad Dal
  2. 2 cups Idli rice
  3. 5 cups water
  4. 1 tea spoon salt

Procedure:

  1. Soak urad dal in water for 2 hours
  2. Soak rice in another bowl with water for 1 hour
  3. Grind Urad dal in grinder
  4. Add rice to Urad Dal in grinder (dont let the mixture become a paste)
  5. Keep the mixture for fermentation for 8 hours.
  6. Boil the mixture in idli vessel

Sambhar:

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cup Dal
  2. Medium size Palak 5-6 leaves
  3. 1 Tomato
  4. 5 grams Tamarind
  5. 5 grams Jaggery
  6. Salt for taste
  7. 1 pinch Turmeric
  8. 1 pinch Asafoetida
  9. 2 Green Chillies
  10. 2 spoon Sambhar Powder

Procedure:

  1. Boil the dal in cooker until 6 whistles
  2. After boiling add tamarind pulp, turmeric powder and jaggery.
  3. Add finely chopped Palak and tomato
  4. Add salt
  5. Boil it for 10 minutes.
  6. Add asafoetida and sambhar powder.
  7. Boil for 2 minutes and Sambhar is ready.
