My hydroponics journey! (lots of pics)
Hydroponics Journey
I started off with lettuce because it is one of the easiest, if not the easiest, plant to grow hydroponically.
This wont be a tutorial, but more of the time-lapse start to finish, to give you an idea of how long lettuce takes. After planting the seeds, I had to do virtually zero work.
The LED grow light is rated for 300 watts but uses around 150. This translates to about $3-$4 a month in electricity costs a month, which is negligible for the amount of lettuce you get. Enough rambling, here and the images, enjoy!

Nice Post, added you via Steem Follower, follow back @rishherbalist
i love hydroponics! have you every looked into aquaponics? thats the avenue i will eventually go into. by using the fish/shellfish to provide nutrients , you create a closed loop system that is awesome! you grow your own produce and your own protein.
Never heard of aquaponics, sounds very interesting and something I would for sure try. How easy is it to get started and maintain?
takes some effort but you already have the basics down. now you have to learn about the fish component.
Hydroponics are the future with only 1% of all Earth's water supply being clean to drinking these systems will be significant in reduce the usage of water (compared to traditional soil methods of growing plants) as all water is recycled through the system and it is not necessary to discard or change any water (under normal conditions). It has been reported on various forums and websites that water usage is around 90% lower then traditional soil gardening. However i have not came across any clinical trials or research documentation of experiments/monitoring if anybody has this info shot me a link.
My Aquaponics project is still back bench!
Keep up the important work! And keep us posted!
Nice setup! My husband and I are going to try out the kratky method when we get settled in our new home. We used to want to do an aquaponic setup, but decided hydroponics was probably more our pace, at least initially.
