• 200g minced sausage meat (satis meat)
• ½ teaspoon seasoning cube
• ½ teaspoon black pepper
• 50 grams breadcrumbs
• 3 hard boiled eggs
• 1 medium raw egg
• A pinch of nutmeg
• A pinch of salt
• Vegetable oil, for deep frying
Directions For Making Nigerian Scotch Egg
• Finely mince or grind the sausage meat. Spread out some bread slices in the oven and leave to dry, then grind into crumbs in a blender.
• Or simply tear the fresh bread into small pieces and spray on a tray to dry out in room temperature, then grind, pound or blend into crumbs and set aside in a bowl. Boil the eggs and peel off the shells. Break the raw egg, whisk it and set aside.
• Now, place the minced sausage meat in a bowl, add salt to taste, the seasoning powder, nutmeg, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined.
• Next, take some of the meat and flatten it on your palm. Roll the hard boiled egg on the flour and then place it on the flattened meat on your other palm.
• Roll the meat around the egg, until the egg is completely covered with the sausage meat. Then, deep the Scotch Egg into the raw egg, and make sure that the meat is well covered with the raw egg.
• Then transfer the Scotch Egg into the bowl of breadcrumbs, roll it in it until the egg coat is completely covered with the breadcrumbs.
• Repeat the process for the remaining and set aside. Then, heat up the vegetable oil on medium heat and fry the Scotch Egg until brown.
• Transfer unto a sieve lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. That's it, your Nigerian Scotch Egg is ready.
