Food Exploration #1 | Restaurant Trattoria | Chinese-Italian Cuisines
Hello everyone! Namaste!!
Greetings from Mangalore, India.
I am passionate about Motorcycling, travelling and also an ardent foodie. For many reasons, I am a strict vegetarian but that doesn't deter my undying love for good food. Due to my love for Vegetarian Food and cuisines, I started exploring various Restaurants and food joints.
As a food explorer, Vegetarian Foodie, I will blog about various places I have come across in the coming days.
For my first Food Trail I chose to write about one of my all time favorite Restaurant, "Trattoria ".
Trattoria Restaurant started way back in 2013 by Chef Savio. Ever since its Inception, Trattoria has been known for its uniqueness. It has concept of serving various types of cuisines influenced from across the world, specially focusing on Italian and Chinese cuisine with the Indian blend. They were one of the first one in town to do so. Their top hit and famous ones are the Unique blended pot rice and freshly made clay oven wood fired pizzas have made a mark for themselves.
After successfully running for 4 years, the restaurant acquired new partners and underwent a major makeover to the overall look and feel of the restaurant ambiance.
The new restaurant theme was based on a Greek-Mediterranean feel inspired by the Greek City of Mykonos. This can be seen in the wall hangings, the crockery, the general music style as well as the food in itself.
The restaurant while undergoing major make over also had a fresh menu with a new innovative food item being introduced nearly every week.
Here are some of the new items introduced as part of the special menu for curated events.
The In-house Signature Ice Tea:
The signature in-house Ice Tea is served chilled with mint leafs in it. Either served in a single glass or in a pitcher.
The following are the appetizers:
Cold Hunters Soup:
It's one of a kind, unique cold soup with dried crisp basil leaf used with a barbecue flavored sugarcane stick to crush the basil leaf within the soup, you gotta twist it and down it like a shot and munch the flavored sugarcane.
Quinoa Salad:
Quinoa salad for the health freaks. It requires an acquired taste, not many will like the taste.
Vietnamese Rolls:
The Vietnamese spring rolls is another twist to the regular ones you get. These spring rolls are again served cold. They are served both in Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian
Dim sums:
The Vegetarian Paneer (Similar to Tofu) Dim Sums and also a Chicken Dim Sums Served with a unique kind of sauce.
Now coming to the Main Course. We were served with some lip smacking dishes such as..
Purple Ravioli:
The purple Ravioli is stuffed with pumpkin and cheese filling.
The filling is unique and tastes out of the world as perfectly cooked as the outer layer.
Sadly, I haven't clicked a picture of this dish. Maybe next time.
Poulet A-la Cav-A-Nora (Demi-Glazed):
This is a chicken dish with a large portion of chicken breasts stuffed with Calamari (Squid) in a brown mushroom glaze sauce served along a quinoa-mash.
Poulet A-la Cav-A-Nora (Tomate):
This again is a chicken dish similar to the Demi-Glazed version, the only difference is the sauce which is replaced with a Tomato based sauce.
And finally, the best is served at the last, the drooling desserts. Not a single piece of dessert but a plate full of assorted desserts such as the Tiramisu, White chocolate mousse and Dark chocolate mousse with Caramel sauce and Strawberry Panacotta with fresh strawberries.
Over all, this restaurant has been one of my all time personal favorites. I'm looking forward to try out more new dishes. Until then, I will be writing another article featuring the original food and dishes from the Restaurant.
