Why You Should Spend a Vacation in Ghana - A taste of Ghana

I know many of us will really love to travel one day or you might actually be thinking of travelling right now. If so dont worry, i have the perfect place for you, Ghana. Although Ghana is not a rich country in economy, we are really rich in culture, tourism and food. Many people visit Ghana because of the rich culture just to listen to the history of Ghana. Today, i will be talking more about food.

As an adventureous eater, Ghana has several nutritious cuisines to satisfy your taste as you explore the jungles and cities of Ghana. Ghana actually has so many food that, it will take a year to write them all down. So let me introduce you to some some few common delicacies.

I hope you have heard of the infamous Banku. It is a meal prepared from fermented corn and it is served with orange size balls. Mostly taken with hot pepper and fish. The most common fish taken with banku is the tilapia. I really enjoy this recipe personally because Banku is the meal for the gods and warriors. Its really funny as to think gods eat. But to explain it in simple terms, Banku really sustains you for a very long time. In times of war, when one takes one banku, it can sustain him or her for the whole day as the warrior takes in water. So as you are planning to come to Ghana, be prepared to be a god because you will be tasting Banku ( a food for the Gods)

Next food on display will be the most popular Akan food Fufu. It is a a special kind of starch food eaten with soup. Fufu is eaten in most part of Ghana and most Akans cant go a day without taking Fufu. A typical Akan will tell you right after eating other meals that he/ she has taken no food because he has not taken fufu. To an Akan, Food is Fufu and Fufu is food. I challenge you to come and experience a tasteful meal of fufu and palm nut soup with snails. My favourite dish though as am Akan.

Now i believe you must be wondering which of the two meals above taste better. Its indeed none of the above as each food has a special effect on your tongue activating different taste buds at a time.
The next food i will talk about is a snack called kelewele. Its one of the favourite snacks a Ghanaian would prefer and most foreigners also love it. Its a magic piece and as sweet as honey. Kelewele is made with cubes of riped plantain. The riped plantain is then spiced up and fried with ginger, onion and pepper. It tastes really great to eat Kelewele.

To the next major food an adventureous eater will be happy to enjoy, i will name the TZ. This meal is the food of the northerners in Ghana. They know how to prepare it best as its their chief food. Tuo Zaafi a.k.a TZ is a very popular food from the Hausa tribe that is catching. Its often taken with a soup called Ayoyo.

Ghana has several delicacies to offer. So to the adventurers come on and have a bite and see how it goes. Actually, does someone travel to a country just because of the food they make?
