The Warriors - Moonwalk League - 2017 Fantasy Football Draft Analysis
The Warriors - Moonwalk League 2017
First off, I would like to thank commissioner @robjagoe for putting together this professional fantasy football league and letting me be a part of it. It is a great honor and I am very proud to be a team owner in the prestigious Moonwalk League.
This will be The Warriors 7th season as a franchise in the Moonwalk League. After taking home a championship in their 2011 inaugural season, the Warriors have been stuck in a long drought without a title. This year they seek to bring the Winkenbach Trophy back home.
Draft Analysis
1st Round
With the 3rd overall pick of the draft, The Warriors stunned the crowd by picking the Miami Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi. Ajayi was a big help for The Warriors last season and this year the media has been buzzing about his positive developments during the off-season. It may be considered a reach, but the raw talent from Ajayi could pay off in the end.
2nd Round
The Warriors 2nd round draft pick, TY Hilton was listed as a player to watch in @SportsChain's Day 21 analysis of the Indianapolis Colts. After racking up the most receiving yards in the NFL last season, Hilton is aiming for double digit touchdowns this year.
3rd Round
The 49ers running back Carlos Hyde has not lived up to his potential over the last couple seasons. He has missed many games due to injuries, but this year Hyde heads into the season completely healthy with an urgency to prove himself. He will be a great compliment to Ajayi in the backfield.
4th Round
You can never have too many running backs in fantasy football. The Warriors drafted the Patriots RB Mike Gillisee as a possible flex option. It will be interesting to see how the Patriots use him. If he receives a role as a lead back, he most definitely should see starting time.
5th Round
The Warriors took a fly on rookie WR Corey Davis in the 5th round. Davis should get loads of looks from Mariota and the Titans offense with a lack of depth in their receiving core. Davis was a first round draft pick in the 2017 NFL draft out of Western Michigan.
6th Round
In the 6th round The Warriors were able to snag the Raiders QB Derek Carr. He will be their guy. With a ton of weapons to work with, Carr should have no problem putting up numbers. I predict multiple 4-TD games from the 4th year quarterback.
7th Round
The Warriors buckled down on running backs and selected Matt Forte with their 7th pick. The Jets back is approaching the later years of his career. He had himself a lead-back role with the Jets last season before losing his job to Bilal Powell after an injury. Expect the vet to bounce back and take his job back over the course of this season.
8th Round
Julius Thomas had a couple brutal seasons with the Jaguars, but before he got into that nightmare, he was living the dream with offensive coordinator Adam Gase in Denver. Thomas will look to get the ball rolling again now that he is healthy and paired up with the man that helped him score back to back 12 TD seasons.
9th Round
In the 9th round with the 115th overall pick The Warriors selected the Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb. With Aaron Rodgers throwing the football, Cobb is bound to get a lot of good looks. As long as Cobb can keep himself healthy, he will put up some numbers over the course of the year.
10th Round
Receiver Devin Funchess had the opportunity to become a star on the Panthers offense in 2016. He did not put up the numbers people anticipated. This year Funchess will be out with a vengeance. The Warriors are hoping Cam Newton will link up with Funchess a little more often in 2017.
11th Round
The Warriors landed Matt Bryant in the 11th round with the 143rd overall pick. Bryant was the top scoring kicker in fantasy football last season. With a high powered offense like the Atlanta Falcons, expect Bryant to continue with a large workload this year.
12th Round
In the 12th round The Warriors selected the Cardinals Defense/Special Teams unit. They have a solid squad containing a list of star players such as Chandler Jones, Tyrann Mathieu, Patrick Peterson, Markus Golden and Antoine Bethea.
13th Round
Hunter Henry had an impressive rookie year with the Chargers last season. Things will only get better as veteran Antonio Gate's role continues to dwindle. With Julius Thomas already on the roster, The Warriors will have 2 great options at the tight end position.
14th Round
With the last round of the draft, the Warriors took another running back for insurance. Like I said before, you can never have too many running backs. The former Alabama RB T.J Yeldon failed to prove himself in the NFL so the Jaguars brought in rookie Leonard Fournette with the 4th overall pick of the 2017 draft. Yeldon should still see snaps during passing downs but we can't expect too much.
The Warriors on Draft Day
Projected Lineup's for Week 1 Match-up VS TF CF
The Warriors will face off with TF CF in Week 1. As of now, they are projected to score 93.4, but TF CF is projected 96.2.
Keep an eye out for team updates over the course of the season.
LET'S GO WARRIORS!
