Top 2 Candidates To Replace Maurizio Sari As Chelsea Head Coach

in #football6 years ago (edited)

Chelsea football club appointed Maurizio Sari from Napoli last summer to replace Antonio Conte in the Premier league. The Italian is known for his possession football and he termed his philosophy "sari ball" which started very well when the season started last year. He signed Italian maestro Jorginho from Napoli to orchestrate the midfield and dictate the game from the back, which also worked magic from September to beginning of November.

But recent results has seen the Italian's job under severe pressure and may be sacked if defeated by Manchester City in the carabao cup final on Sunday. The Italian has been criticized for his treatment towards Chelsea midfielder, N'Golo Kante. He is playing the defensive midfielder in a more advanced position. Should Sari get sacked, here are the top three candidates to replace him.

1. Zinedine Zidane

The former Real Madrid coach resigned as head coach of the Bernabeu after lifting the Uefa Champions league for a record three times in a row. The former world cup winner and France captain has been without a job since he left the club and is touted as the frontrunner for the job should Chelsea sack Sari. He was also a target for Manchester Uni9tede when they sacked Jose Mourinho before they ended up employing Ole as interim coach for the remainder of the season.

2. Frank Lampard

The former Chelsea midfielder who is now at the helm of Derby County as the club's head coach is also in the frame to replace the Italian. Lampard has turned Derby County as one of the teams to beat in the Championship and his usage of players below 20 years is mind-blowing. He has given players like Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori freedom in the Championship. He's seen as someone that can give the youths a chance at Chelsea and bring back unity to the team.

Chelsea will be playing Manchester City on Sunday in the Carabao Cup finals in what might be the decisive match for the Italian. Should he be defeated by Manchester City on Sunday, the Italian may be sacked and replaced by his assistant as Interim coach for the remainder of the season.
