Shaq To Miss Start Of Pre-Season
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that midfielder, Xherdan Shaqiri will not be a part of the beginning of the club's pre-season programme, following a calf tear injury.
Shaqiri suffered this injury while on duty for Switzerland, against England in the Euro Nations League on June 9.
The 27-year-old former Stoke City prodigy returned to the club's Melwood facility on Monday but would have to begin a process of rehabilitation before he can be cleared to take part in training.
Klopp made this announcement via the club's website, saying the Switzerland international will not be training with the team until fit again.
The Swiss who joined the Champions League holders from Stoke City for a reported £13 million deal spent a better part of the second half of last season on the sidelines.
Despite not featuring regularly for the team having made just 24 appearances since his switch to NAfield last summer, he has kept his believe and is willing to stay on as a Red.
