Terry Fox - A True Canadian Patriot Passed Away This Day / June 28th 1981 He Tried Running Across Canada on 1 Leg: Cancer Awareness.
On June 28, 1981 Terry died, surrounded by the love of his family, his friends and the nation. He died knowing that his Marathon of Hope would continue, with the first Terry Fox Run less than 3 months later.
Terry attempted to run across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer.
What he could not possibly have known is that his legacy would endure more than three decades, his name enshrined on mountains, schools and icebreakers, his story embraced by millions of people around the world.
Sharing this info with you today.... some words from the “Running Into the Heart of Canada” exhibit:
“Terry is part of our landscape, part of our culture, part of our yearly calendar, part of how we teach our children what a hero is. Terry is part of Canada, part of us.”
Thank you for making room in your heart for Terry, for what mattered to him most.

This is not a political post, just something to honour him I try and do once a year. I know cancer treatments are being suppressed by #BigPharma and #BigGov.
Great content as always!
Nice..
I remember him well. He was an inspiration even here in the States.
This man right here is a prime example of what courage and determination should look like. If only they had the breakthroughs in medicinal cannabis back then that there are today he just may be still alive. But he will always be among us none the less
