RE: True Life: My Country's Government Has Shut Down [Here's Why That Doesn't Matter]

Hey Axios,
Nice story you told here, slavery is a choice in the USA, the sad part is most people don't realize that we are slaves. An important vote people overlook here in the US is one that people try desperately to get out of and that is jury duty. Several government injustices can be cured with the vote of an informed jury, we need to visit sometime and share some ideas.

Yeah thats a good point @sultnpepper. I think the fact that we're so detached from our involvement and connection to our nation that its hard to see the benefits in doing something like jury duty. As a millennial, I never felt like my voice mattered in the world of politics. I did always feel like I had an opportunity to express that voice through social media and such, but that had nothing to do with my government.

I would tell you that the most important thing you can do is serve on a jury, voting in elections is virtually meaningless when it comes to presidential elections. Look up jury nullification and read and study it, an informed jury is required to judge both the law and the facts in the case. If the jury deems the law unjust they can find and vote not guilty and the law is essentially nullified in that case because the government can't try a person a second time for the same offense, so at least one person you would have helped. Codes and statutes are not law, they replaced the law of the land witch is common law. For an offense in common law there must be an injured party, there are so many codes and statutes that are "crimes against the state" were there is no injured party. Every person in prison who was convicted of a crime where there was not an injured party has been wronged by this government.
