Everyone seems to really enjoy these so they will keep coming! Sit back, break out a stubby, and let's roll through some weird words and phrases!

"Get in amongst it"

I laugh every time @sammosk says this one to me. It sounds a bit filthy and tickles me half to death.

"Get in amongst it" means to "tuck/dig in". It can be in reference to food, or even a project. Get in there! Get your hands dirty!

The first time it was said to me was when I was presented with an astronomical amount of food and simply stared at it, bewildered. I was unsure where to even start.

(The meal in question: Lobster ON a steak with salad AND chips.)

"get in amongst it" he said, "it takes a lot more food than this to kill a person", he said.

Duffer/duffa

On our last slang post, @onemedia dropped by and asked about the definition of this one! @sammosk elaborated perfectly upon it and I don't think I could improve it even a little bit!

Here you go!

"A duffa or a silly duffer is a goofball/dunce/idiota or depending on if there is an arm/shoulder smack/grip involved may well indicate she is interested.. in pointing out how much of a dunder brain you were being. ;)

P.S she definitely likes you. The correct response is "Nah chu arrre, got a duzza I can 'ave?"

This will engage round 2 of the courtship ritual, whereby she will throw many varied objects from her purse at you. (Some heavy look out). Your part in this is to collect as many valuables as you can in order to decorate the home you will both inhabit."

Yobbo

This, unlike many words in the Australian vocabulary, is not one that is dual use. (Used as a derogatory OR an endearment)

Depending on your region and reference, it can refer to either a drunken asshole, a homeless person, or someone that is very uncouth lacks personal hygiene, and is boring/rude.

It is basically like calling someone the equivalent of "white trash" in my neck of the woods!

(use with care)

Gabba- shut your gob!

You get two for the price of one in this one!

Gabba means to have a chat, shoot the shit, bullshit, etc. It is basically a blanket term for having a conversation, lighthearted OR in-depth.

If someone tells you to shut your gob, however, you've just been told to STFU. This can be said in jest like a "come on, man. You're full of shit." or a serious "You're full of shit." The distinction can usually be identified by it being followed by laughter... or a punch to the face.

As always thank you for reading and we hope you like what we brought to the blockchain today! Please leave your feedback in the comments! We love to hear it!! Stay tuned for Microscopic Mondays, Drones, and silliness!
Much love, @stitchybitch & @sammosk <3
