Fortnite is a video game belonging to the genre of Survival and Open World developed by the companies Epic Games and People Can Fly. It was released as an advance access title on July 25, 2017 for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In 2018, it will become a free-to-play video game.
A game mode, called Fortnite Battle Royale (Fortnite Battle Royal), was released independently in September 2017 for the same platforms. Like the final version of the base game, this mode presents the free-to-play model, and is based on the structure of a Real Battle in which players will try to be the last one standing while the map becomes more and more little. You will also receive versions for iOS and Android, with cross-play between PS4, Mac, Windows and these versions of mobile device.

Argument (Save the world mode)
For some reason one day, 98% of humans on Earth suddenly disappeared, and the remaining population found that the skies were covered by a strange purple storm that has the property of creating monsters called Carcass (husks) ), humanoid creatures similar to zombies, that attacked living people. Survivors found ways to build Storm Shields, a field that cleared storm clouds from above, and reduced carcass attacks, and used them to establish survivor bases around the world. The player is a commander of one of these bases, in charge of getting out of the Storm Shield to find resources, survivors and other allies to help expand his storm shield and find a way to return Earth to its normal state.

Gameplay
Currently, Fortnite offers two different modes: a player against the environment, called "Save the world" mode, and a player against player, type "Battle Royale" (Real Battle). The latter was added after the initial launch of the base game, to be later offered as a free-to-play independent mode on September 26, 2017, so it does not require having the main game

Battle Royale
In Fortnite there is the gameplay Battle Royale (Real Battle) which follows a game mechanic similar to other real battle games, particularly from PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. This mode supports up to 100 players, either individuals or squads of up to four men, who try to be the last man or team standing while hunting other players and preventing them from killing themselves. All players start with nothing but picks to collect resources, and parachute on the map. Once they land, they can search for weapons, armor and resources, the last of which can be used to make structures in the same way as in the "Save the World" mode. Over time, a "storm" surrounds the area and makes the "safe" area of the map decrease in size. Once the "safe" area has been reduced to the smallest circle on the map (a thin, white circle), it will generate, in a random location, a smaller circle within it. Those who are trapped outside the area receive damage and potentially die if they remain outside for too long. There are also random falls of resources, weapons and items that may require players to build floors and ramps to access, with different random elements determined by the rarity. Players can use real money to buy money in the game, which can be used to buy cosmetic items.

During the 2017 The Game Awards event, held on December 7, 2017, Epic Games announced and launched a 50-on-50, time-limited mode for the Royal Battle, the first of several planned game modes. In this, the players are randomly assigned to one of the two teams, and they play until only members of a team remain, with the rest of the Real Battle mechanics in place. The mode encourages players on a team to work together to collect resources in anticipation of smaller secure areas, and then build strengths when the safe area is small enough, protecting their own fortifications while trying to harm other teams and finish with the remaining players.
