Overwatch League: Two more teams jump in
Last we talked there were seven teams... Now there are nine. The legendary esports organization, Cloud9, purchased the first European city of London and The Kroenke family, which includes L.A. Rams and Denver Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke purchased the second Los Angeles spot and will be cross town rivals to the Los Angeles Immortals. Side note...I can't wait for that freeway series!
Cloud9 has its first round of investor offerings with some big names backing them! This list of new esports early adopters includes Joe Montana, the co-owner of the Golden State Warriors Chamath Palihapitiya, and Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly.
This is all really cool and with all of these big names involved just makes the Overwatch League much more stable in its ability to succeed. Blizzard has announced that the first session of the Overwatch League will include 12 teams and will take place completely in LA. After the first season is over each team will return to their home city and prepare for season two while Blizzard rounds out the remaining teams of the 28 team goal for Overwatch League moving forward. Who will be next to enter the Overwatch League? I can't wait for this to start!
