Garden Update: The Beauty of Autumn
The gardening season has officially come to an end, with a couple of storms with lots of rain tearing apart what little was left.
Now comes the time to "winterize" everything, and make it ready for spring planting.
In between, we now get to enjoy the amazing colors of fall which is always a joy to behold.
The "stars" of the show are mostly our Japanese maples, which turn many shades of bright red, over a long period of time. Some have not even started to turn, yet.
Our regular big-leaf maples are close to their brightest orange and red of the season.
In the vegetable garden there is not so much color because the only trees we have there are apple trees, and the leaves only turn bright yellow for a few days before falling off.
Does look like we'll have to do a bit of pruning, this year.
The other really colorful bush we have is a "Smoke Tree."
It is called that because the flowers (earlier) make it look like the whole tree is surrounded by a cloud of smoke.

Smoke tree leaves with more Japanese maples in the background.
The beauty of nature is undeniable, even as we enter the season of decay and dormancy.
Till the next, thank you for visiting! All photos are my own, usually taken in nature, from the nearby beach, or around our property.
