If you have not heard of the Gems protocol you have possibly been hiding under a rock somewhere?
2017 saw the rise of crypto coins and ico on the etherium network.
2018 is going to see a massive increase in icos, however they are not all equal. Very few new cryptos actually have any real life use. The Gems protocol is one of the few upcoming cryptos that can make a real change to people.
