THE HUMANS AS A GIFT
26 WHEN SAUL RETURNED TO HIS HOME AT GIBEAH, A GROUP OF MEN WHOSE HEARTS GOD HAD TOUCHED WENT WITH HIM.
27 But there were some scoundrels who complained, “HOW CAN THIS MAN SAVE US?” AND THEY SCORNED HIM AND REFUSED TO BRING HIM GIFTS. BUT SAUL IGNORED THEM."
1 Samuel 10:26,27 (NLT)
In whatever God has assigned or called you to do, there would be a group of people who will believe in you, as well as, those who will not believe in you.
Those whom God has touched their hearts would believe in the vision or the assignment given to you by God. They would be willing and ready to submit to your leadership.
When Saul was appointed and anointed as the new king of Israel, some in his home town did believe in him while some others did not—they despised him (1 Samuel 10:26,27).
Saul was chosen by God, He gave the instruction to Samuel the prophet to anoint him, yet some were not willing to submit to him—the leadership of Saul (1 Samuel 9:15-17).
No matter the authenticity of the call of God on your life, some may still not believe in you—they may despise you; particularly those who know your history, when you were small and how you started (Matthew 13:53-58).
You should not try or strive to please those who do not believe in you, but rather, ignore them as Saul did (1 Samuel 10:27).
You should focus on your assignment and leave the skeptics or cynics or doubters, those who do not believe in you. Such people said about Saul: “HOW CAN THIS MAN SAVE US?” AND THEY SCORNED HIM AND REFUSED TO BRING HIM GIFTS" (1 Samuel 10:27 NLT).
Your results would later answer such people and convince them. Someone says it is only a fool who argues with results. In other words, If you did have results in whatever you are assigned to do, such people would stop despising you, and they would later swallow their pride and join others to celebrate you!
You should know that if you wanted to receive the support of everyone, you would not be able to achieve anything tangible for God. In fact, you will not be able to do the work you are assigned to do. Saul never paid attention to the rebels who despised him (1 Samuel 10:27).
Note:
• Be doggedly committed to your work, let your results speak for you—do not pay attention to the opposition at all.
• Be resolute and determined to succeed in your God-given vision.
God at times permits such people, scoundrels, to be around you that you may not be complacent; their aspersions and castigations would keep motivating you and keep you on your toes.
If there were no challenges and opposition, you may want to be complacent about your progress, be satisfied with your little results. However, with oppossers around, they would be used as spurs to action for you.
What the oppossers are doing would make you work as you should, assiduously, that they may not have anything to say against you or the name of Christ: "HAVING YOUR CONDUCT HONORABLE AMONG THE GENTILES, THAT WHEN THEY SPEAK AGAINST YOU AS EVILDOERS, THEY MAY, BY YOUR GOOD WORKS WHICH THEY OBSERVE, GLORIFY GOD IN THE DAY OF VISITATION" (1 Peter 2:11,12 NKJV).
If you knew some people are waiting to make mockery of you if you did fail, you would want to work resiliently to succeed that such might be ashamed (Psalm 86:17).
God will touch the heart of some people to be your associates—be part of your team. Such people would submit to your leadership willingly by God's divine arrangement: " . . . A GROUP OF MEN WHOSE HEARTS GOD HAD TOUCHED WENT WITH HIM [Saul]" (1 Samuel 10:26 NLT).
In other words, there are people whom God has purposed or ordained, divinely arranged, to work with you in fulfilling the vision given to you by Him, God.
If you are truly sent by God, He will surely send the people who will believe in your vision, ministry or assignment, or whatever He has assigned you to do.
Note:
• Do not try to win everyone over to your side, not everyone would be on your side; thus, be satisfied to work with the people whom God has touched their hearts to work with you and be your associates.
• If you resolutely wanted to draw the people whom God has not touched to work with you, you may put yourself in problems and jeopardize your vision.
The gift of men is the best gift that God can give to someone who is called or assigned for a particular purpose or assignment.
When a particular minister was asked of his strength, a number of years ago, he answered that people are his assets and strength. And he further said, people are also his challenges. In other words, what were his assets are also his challenges!
It means the people under your leadership could be your assets and as well as your challenges. It all depends on how the people given to you are managed or led and developed.
The people you have, those who are available to work with you, are the assets given to you by God. If you have men, right people for that matter, around you and are willing to work with you; you surely would go places, your vision would be announced, and your assignment would be fulfilled.
You cannot go far without the gift of men—the people ordained to work with you!
Let God choose for you, those whom He wants to work with you (1 Samuel 10:26).
The people whom God has not given you may give you any number of problems if such are drafted into your team to work with you.
God will give you men, those whom He has touched, to stand with you; support and run with your God-given vision or the assignment.
"THEN THE LORD ANSWERED ME AND SAID: “WRITE THE VISION AND MAKE IT PLAIN ON TABLETS, THAT HE MAY RUN WHO READS IT."
Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV)
You will not fail in Jesus' name. Peace!
