GOD IN HIS WORD AS THE FOUNTAIN OF LIFE
2 BEHOLD, GOD IS MY SALVATION, I WILL TRUST AND NOT BE AFRAID; ‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ ”
3 Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation.
Isaiah 12:2,3 (NKJV)
2 SEE, GOD HAS COME TO SAVE ME. I WILL TRUST IN HIM AND NOT BE AFRAID. The Lord God is my strength and my song; he has given me victory.”
3 With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation!"
Isaiah 12:2,3 (NLT)
• The Word of God is the fountain of salvation—well of life.
- The provision to drink and be satisfied had been made for the people of God in His Word.
- The Holy Spirit would make the Word real to you, If you allow Him to tutor you. And the Word of God is efficacious to meet every need.
• The truth about God's way of seeing things is different from that of man (Isaiah 55:8).
- If you as a believer could be diligent and pay attention to regularly read and study the Word of God, the Bible, and practice the principles found in it, you would be endeared to God (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3; James 1:22-25).
- Some people, believers, think they would have to be rigorous in prayer so much, thus, they relegate the reading and studying of the Word of God, the Bible, to the background.
- The truth is, the daily systematic reading of the Bible does a lot of work, changes and transformations take place, in the the life of a believer who does it. Thus, God counts on it and usually looks towards It in the life of a believer. He always wants to pay attention to any believer who regularly does it.
• Why the daily reading and studying of the Word of God is important to God and wanted every believer to daily practice them?
- The reason is, It is a major and primary way through which God talks to a believer and shape his or her life for His intended purpose. Thoughts of God's Will or plan are made known to the believers through his or her thoughts—because the Word is permitted to saturate his or her mind.
- The Holy Spirit Who comes to reside on the inside of a newly reborn believer is easily given the opportunity to influence such a believer; create a thirst or desire in his or her heart for God.
- The easy and direct way through which the Holy Spirit could influence someone, a believer, is when the person is opened to the reading and studying of the Word of God, the Bible.
- Even If someone claims to be born-again, If the person does not have a flair, aptitude or inclination, for the Bible, the Word of God; God could only do little or nothing about influencing the person for His intended purpose.
• Someone, a believer, might be rigorous in prayer, If the person does not give more attention to the reading and studying of the Word of God, the Bible; some things would still be unclear to him or her about relating and fellowshipping with God.
- Most of the believers who depends so much on being told a vision or who wanted a vision to be seen for them are believers who are primarily not conversant with the reading and studying of the Bible, the Word of God. THEY are such who do not give much credibility or pay a proper attention to the reading and studying of the Word of God (James 1:22-25).
- There are things that are taken care of when you are a regular reader of the Bible, one who studies it and apply it. You are intuitively taught some things by God through the Holy Spirit on the inside of you.
- A believer who is conversant with the reading and studying of the Bible are always enabled or given or empowered with God's supernatural wisdom. How the person got to know some things would not be clear and understood and be surprising to him or her, the self.
- Such would discover that the knowledge and understanding of certain things are made known to them which they could not categorically mention when and how they got to know about them.
- These things are the things taught by the Holy Spirit on the inside of the believer (John 14:26; 16:13; 1 John 2:27) as he or she is conversant with the Word of God, the Bible—reading and studying and pondering on it.
- They are also called revelation knowledge of God's Word. This is what Apostle Paul was saying when he said a number of things he was teaching were not learned by him from anyone, that they were taught to him through the revelation knowledge of God, Jesus Christ:
11 BUT I MAKE KNOWN TO YOU, BRETHREN, THAT THE GOSPEL WHICH WAS PREACHED BY ME IS NOT ACCORDING TO MAN. 12 FOR I NEITHER RECEIVED IT FROM MAN, NOR WAS I TAUGHT IT, BUT IT CAME THROUGH THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST" (Galatians 1:11,12 NKJV).
• The Word of God is the fountain of life, If you can open your heart to the learning of it through reading and studying and pondering and the practicing of it, you would see a lot things being revealed or made known to you.
- This reading I am talking about is the one you do regularly, daily, with consistency in your Christian journey on earth.
- Life of God, Zoe, is released through the Word of God, the written Word, the Bible. Not the letter of the Word, but the Holy Spirit gives life. You would start by reading it without any rigour and probably casually without any agitation so to speak, but the Holy Spirit would take it over and breathe life into it and the life would be imparted to your spirit and it would permeate through your entire being—spirit, soul and body.
- Take a step now and start doing it, your life will never remain the same!
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- If there is any ailment in your body, you are made whole completely now in Jesus' mighty name.
Peace.
