Kilómetros y kilómetros de estepa y la vida nómada que todavía siguen llevando gran parte de sus habitantes hacen de Mongolia un territorio muy distinto. La mejor época para conocerlo es durante el verano boreal (de junio a septiembre), ya que en invierno puede alcanzar 40 grados bajo cero en algunas zonas del norte. Ulán Bator, su capital, es la más fría del mundo durante los meses invernales.
