SILIŅI. Everything about the country we live in - LATVIA

I guess you even don't know where Latvia is located on the globe. That's OK. It's not the biggest / loudest / most controversial country. But if you want to learn a bit more about the place we live in, Geography Now last month released a video about Latvia. It's a silly, shallow video with a really bad representation of the real situation. But at least there is one.

One fun fact about Latvia from me.
In the opening Olympic games, there usually is ceremony were the representatives from all countries walk in the big stadium. And then the reporters name every country. Latvia was "banned" from showing up on the TV for three years. "Banned" is not the best word to use - it was more like "ignored". It was simply the time for the commercials. For three times in a row! Can you imagine the frustration that a couple of million people experienced??? After many years of occupation by Russia, we finally broke free. Our best athletes went to the biggest sports event in the world and just when you could see them on the TV - you had to watch some stupid commercials. And then some politicians did what they get paid for and after three times of complete disappointment, broadcasters pushed the commercials back a little bit. Plus everyone was talking about this situation and was paying extra attention to this exact moment.

I'm not the biggest sports fan, especially Olympics, so I cant name exact years.
