Jesus is the true God: Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light. John 12:36

The Gospel of John is perhaps of all the gospels the one that most makes use of the figure of Jesus as a personification of the perfections of God. Jesus in the Christian revelation is "God" who becomes the "Son of Man." And this makes sense, Jesus in the gospels is a figure who is progressively revealed as the expected messiah, the son of the Father, until culminating as the new Adam with his death and resurrection.
The Gospel of John recounts that Jesus made a messianic entry into Jerusalem, acclaimed by a multitude, and it was then that, before the last supper, he gave an important speech that impressed many, Jesus presented himself as the personification of light.
The gospels are to some extent a continuation of the spiritual concepts of the sapiential literature; the light, according to these books of the Bible, is identified with the same wisdom of God. Just as light gives clarity to the eyes and allows one to perceive obstacles in the path, wisdom gives clarity to the mind in decision-making, and allows one to perceive the proximity of problems that are not evident; this is why wisdom is associated with the spiritual concept of light for the mind. And Jesus made profound use, according to the Gospel of John, of this concept so as not to provoke his enemies, the Pharisees and Sadducees, who wanted to accuse him of being a heretic and a false prophet.
And so in this speech, which was probably the last he gave in public and in the temple of Jerusalem, he said these mysterious words to his followers: "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light" John 12:35-36.
With this discourse, Jesus presented himself as a personified wisdom, and that only through the faith in this true wisdom can men attain truth and the gift of eternal life, and thus become children of light, that is, of God. Jesus ultimately presented himself to humanity as the path that opposes the darkness of oppression and ignorance.
