Back in the 60's and even into the 70's we were paid in cash; today that is not even an option anymore. Using "safety" as an excuse, we all had to get bank accounts and now we know why. Buena suerte y saludos desde Los Países Bajos!
You're spot on! They use safety as an excuse for absolute control.
