What we know about GTA 6 for the beginning of 2021: characters, city, plot and gameplay

It's hard to believe, but GTA 5 was released seven years ago. Over the years, Rockstar Games has managed to please fans with an excellent Western Red Dead Redemption 2, and has also released many major updates for GTA Online. But fans are waiting for the announcement of a completely different game. Realizing this, the developers continue to feed the fans with hints and non-obvious references to the next part.

It would seem that nothing remarkable, but only this inscription has already appeared in the series, on one of the buildings in GTA Vice City in 2002. Now even more gamers are sure that in GTA 6 we will once again go to the neon clone of Miami.

However, guessing is not the VGTimes approach. In this article, we decided to recall all the leaks, rumors, assumptions that hint at the main character (or heroes) of the next part, the possible plot and the place where the events will unfold. Buckle up and let's go, it will be interesting.

Who will become the main hero of GTA 6?
Let's start with the characters. A few years ago, on the pages of the Chinese tabloid Yabadu, information appeared that the main character in the next numbered part will be voiced by Eva Mendes.

Yes, you got it right. According to rumors, most of the gameplay we will be admiring the female ... beauty. Another key character, according to the same publication, will be voiced by Ryan Gosling (Ryan Gosling). However, we would not trust these rumors, since Rockstar does not like to appeal to Hollywood actors, preferring little-known artists.

However, there is another assumption that we tend to trust much more. In May 2020, a Reddit user under the nickname MrSkarKasm found on 4chan a huge amount of leaked information from an alleged former employee of the studio. The developer claimed that the game will have four main characters at once: Walter Wallace (he will pass on the ability of Franklin to slow down time behind the wheel), Thomas Branigan, Marcus Burke and one as yet unnamed character. It is quite possible that the last one will be a girl. This is indicated by another rumor. On December 28, 2019, it was reported that the two heroes will be brother and sister. It is difficult to say how true this is. But with a high degree of probability, you can be sure that the characters or plot will be quite closely connected with Latin American countries. Rumor has it that one of the characters will be voiced by John Leguizamo (John Leguizamo). According to the same leak, the main villain named Valeria Madrina will be played by Roselyn Sanchez.

Well, the characters are sorted out. Let's move on to the scene of action.

The location of the new GTA — Vice City?

Let's start with what exactly will not appear in the game. Back in 2012, Leslie Benzies, the former head of Rockstar Games, said in an interview that he had a dream to create a game in which gamers will be able to navigate through all the previously created cities. Obviously, then and now this dream remains unfulfilled. To create anew several cities, to fill them with activities, characters — work for more than a dozen years, even for such a large company. A year later, Dan Houser (Dan Houser) confessed his love for London, promising that someday the studio will definitely create a game about this city. But we can definitely say that this will definitely not happen in GTA 6.

We'll probably go back to Miami, or rather Vice City. This is stated by several sources, including the jacket mentioned. For example, a few years ago, a video was released on the Inside Gaming YouTube channel. In it, the journalists suggested a return to the metropolis.

Again, let's remember the leak from 4chan. Its author claims that the game will take place in Florida, and the largest city will be Vice City. However, this location will not be the only one that we will be offered to visit during the passage. The names of the localities have not yet been revealed, but it is known that one was inspired by the resort American city of Fort Lauderdale, the second-Bogota, the capital of Colombia. In the latter, however, gamers look only for the sake of story missions. Also, about ten small settlements are scattered around the location, as in GTA: San Andreas. The map itself will be comparable in size to the maps of GTA 5 and RDR 2 combined.

Another plot will feature a certain unnamed island in Central America.

What about the plot?
No official comments from Rockstar Games regarding the events of GTA 6 have been received. Nevertheless, several sources at once assure with one voice that everything will be built around the drug business.

It seems that the events of GTA 6 will unfold in several time epochs at once. An insider from 4Chan claims that we will go back to the 80s and maybe even meet some of the familiar characters, and only then we will reach the present day. Of course, the 40-year journey is quite an interesting plot idea. We could watch the characters grow old, see how their life values change, what they gain and what they lose. There is even talk that we will be allowed to play for the children.

Another insider reports that the game's plot will be non-linear. The third is that the game will switch between characters. But it will not happen in seconds, as in the fifth part: allegedly, the developers decided to submit this feature more original. How exactly is still unknown.

A leak posted on Pastebin reports that we will start with selling substances in dark alleys, and end up with the largest drug lord in the city. This is indicated by the city in which the events will unfold (who hasn't watched "Bad Guys?"), and the time, and the map, according to an insider, designed specifically for air travel. Naturally, one of the main characters should even have a private plane, on which we will deliver contraband (hello, Trevor Phillips!).

Finally — just a few words about the gameplay. It is expected that it will be very similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. Personal transport allows you to purchase in car dealerships. Weapons will now be stored in the trunk, so in the middle of the mission to get a minigun from the bosom will not work. The police system should also be redesigned and return the sixth star of the search. Now the" famous " character in a certain region will be chased by bounty hunters-just like in RDR 2.

The game will even have parkour. Of course, to climb the wall of the house on the roof, as in Assassin's Creed, will not work, but to move around the city will now be more interesting. Also, the combat system was borrowed from the RDR. Fighting with NPCs will become more convenient.
There is still an unlikely rumor that the new GTA 6 will be completely first-person. But, to be honest, I can hardly believe it.

The last rumor about GTA 6 appeared a few days ago. Insider Yann2295 wrote on Twitter that the game is really in development. However, the announcement is still very far away — and this is the only thing that all analysts agree on.

From April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024, Take-Two Interactive has its largest PR campaign planned. This means that it will be followed by the release of the long-awaited game. Of course, the publisher was quick to refute the rumors, noting that the data refers only to contracts with third-party companies and does not reflect the marketing budget of internal studios like Rockstar Games. But earlier in the same way, we managed to predict the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, so we draw conclusions — and wait for the official announcement.
