Good article. Unfortunately human greed is still a dominant force within most people and especially those who are power hungry. I've seen many communities be dissolved, in real life too, due to a few people who are mentally ill.....I don't know the answer to your question, but with SP delegation coming, the whales better be super picky about who they entrust.
That's what really gets to me... I thought that this delegated voting was to be based on trust... It seems the people that are being powered up by the whales either with political (you consistently agree with my pov) votes or delegated self up votes.
The next problem we are going to have is when we have lots of new users, those in power are just going to continue to behave entitled since they've been given the power to without any repercussion for abusing it. It seems @ned isn't publicly commenting on his view on the issue.
I have doubts that the real problem at hand can be solved by delegated voting. The real problem is a community break down and the solution has to come from not some algorithm or technology but from the community holding themselves accountable. Right now is all about pointing fingers and hoarding as much steem as possible for that day that the price rises which doesn't come as long as everybody acts selfishly.
Exactly. There really needs to be more like thecryptofiend, mammasitta and others who are more interested in making others happy. Those are the ones who should be given power, for their heart is in the right place and they are true cultivators of human happiness.
How do we keep positive people on the platform when trolls are being powered up by trolls and guilds are powering up the selfish and entitled? Positive people don't hang around for negativity, hence why cryptobarry left soon after this post.
The only thing you have control over is how you react to conflict. Setting a good example is the most powerful thing you can do for yourself and others. The selfless and more community-driven people need to step up, and become more influential. If I was a whale, I would think very very carefully about who to trust. I would lean towards those who have exhibited the most selfless acts, and who are constantly lifting up others.......I would trust @thecryptofiend, as he is one who is always promoting others. I could see this thing getting out of control fast if factions become even more pronounced. I think what needs to happen is we need a common goal to get behind. Money has divided us.
I agree I've been thinking about that... a common goal is what we need to realise. It seems everybody's got so attached their own ideas and opinions that we've forgotten we have a common interest and goal... This money is supposed to bring us together, not to divide us...
I could see that happening if the money was being distributed more fairly but too many people don't believe in "fair". And I understand that life isn't fair but the less fair the system or community is the less likely people want to be a part of it and that's life too!
I remember steemfest got me and everyone so riled up about steem and nobody was too concerned about the price because we recognised this is a long term dream. I would love if there was something like that to push the community back to positivity but I don't even think the whales who supported steemfest before would support another one. They probably don't realise how much good that festival did for the community because they can't see how those with the biggest flags and auto votes could possibly be responsible for the loss of positive energy...
Certainly the community needs to be pulled together again... Our ideas for the direction of the community may clash but we have a common goal and perhaps the short sighted need to be either weaned out or given binoculars so that we can all get back on the same page!
That's true. I work 40 hours a week. I have sleep for dinner. Dreams, yeah I still have them. I hope each and every post is a prize for knowledge as well as a wallet. I MUST Dream.
