Gundam Feature HG 1/144 G-Gundam
Hey guys! Gundam Guy here with my firs review ever! I will be featuring a Gundam close to my heart! The G Gundam from the G Gundam mobile suit series! It is gundam series closely related to martial arts and gundams themed after countries specialties in warfare and martial arts! Basically the gundams in this series replicate the movements of their pilots! This makes martial artists the perfect pilots to the gundams! With this first review we will be looking at the main character's gundam the G Gundam. I will also be looking at a comparison of this Gundam. The NG Kit made in the 90's and the HG 1/144 one that was recently made! Let's get to it!
First of all this Gundam is piloted by the awesome Domon Kashu! The gundam by Neo Japan and the main protagonist of the series! To what I can remember there was the whole theme of the king of hearts between gundams and that Domon was obsessed with finding out where his brother was. His brother being controlled by the Devil Gundam and was partly the main antagonist in the first season of the series. Anyway the most time we have is for the G Gundam. So let's get it on!
This gunpla is a fresh take on its 90's counter part. It's bigger, better proportioned and articulation and detail do not disappoint! I would say that the build on this is not hard. It straight forward and clean. Nub marks are definitely something to work on due to the red and blue colors. But considering most of this gunpla is white it shouldn't be a problem. Oh just a tip. I read this of facebook so im just sharing it. Invest in tools before the kits. Boom!
So let's head to it and make the comparison!
The NG Kit definitely needs a massive paint job compared the more color accurate HG. As mentioned earlier the HG is also taller and has an updated build allowing for more detail and articulation. By the way this is not a contest between the two. It's us comparing old and new technology in gunpla kits and the true sign of progress!

What I really like about the G Gundam is the core unit on it's back which serves as it's boosters and it's wings. This is a central gimmick within the G Gundam series where in pilots use car like core fighters to get into their gundams or even use them when not using their gundams. I think it's a neat gimmick and I really enjoy it. Here are the core fighters of the NG and the HG
To be honest, while the HG is bigger and a tad bit more detailed it fails with the red part of the wing being hollow compared to the NG's core fighter wings. Oh here they are on the Gunpla!
I think the most sought after feature of the burning gundam is the Burning Finger/Hand. Here the Gundam's core puts power in it's hands and enables the Gundams punches or the famous Burning Finger to execute a lot of damage! In the anime it even allows the gundam to do moves that look like Kame Hame Waves! (Dragon Ball Z) The distinct look of it is when the hand of the gundam turns bright red/orange!

Something that really is missing out from the NG is the the part where the chest piece should actually open for the G Gundam revealing it's core. In the anime this is where the gundam positions it's hands to do the power wave like technique!

All I can say is I love that they redid this awesome Gundam and came up with an awesome gunpla! I will personally kitbash this gunpla and hopefully come up with something spectacular!
