Budget Laptops with Qualcomm Chips Make Sense - Just Not the Ones Qualcomm Is Pushing
Last year, Qualcomm made an ambitious push into the laptop market, aiming to challenge Intel and AMD with its ARM-based processors and bold promises of a computing revolution. However, high launch prices, performance that fell short of the hype, and limited software compatibility meant that Windows on ARM never broke into the mainstream.
Qualcomm continues its push in the laptop market with the Snapdragon X series - distinct from the higher-end X Pro and Elite, targeting the budget-friendly €549–€699 range.
These chips have no major flaws, often beating Intel and AMD counterparts in the lower tier, while delivering significantly better battery life.
New budget Snapdragon X laptops face stiff competition however, as last year’s premium models are often discounted below 2025’s “budget” prices.
They offer not only faster X Pro and Elite chips, but also superior displays, audio, webcams, and build quality designed for their original €1,500 price tags.
Until older stock clears or the new line drops further in price, buying the new budget tier simply doesn’t make sense.
