Men Short Body Vulnerable Hair Loss at Early Age
For men who have short body from now must be careful. According to a study from the University of Bonn, Germany, short men have a higher risk of hair loss prematurely.
Launched Science Daily on Monday (30/4/2018), this study examines genetic material more than 20 thousand people. The data they can show that early hair loss is associated with various physical characteristics and diseases.
Not only that, men with premature hair loss are more susceptible to heart disease and prostate cancer. The genetic data in this study confirmed the statement. That there is a further connection with other characteristics and diseases.
In a study published in Nature communications, the researchers analyzed genetic data about 12 thousand men with premature baldness. Approximately 12 thousand men without hair loss serve as a control. They come from seven different countries.
"That way we can identify 63 changes in the human genome, which increases the risk of premature hair loss," said the study's lead author, Dr. Stefanie Heilmann-Heimbach, Human geneticist from the University of Bonn.
"Some of these changes are also found along with other characteristics and diseases, such as small body size, early puberty, and various types of cancer."
Prof. Markus Nöthen, Director of the Institute of Human Genetics at the University of Bonn says the molecular mechanisms underlying the relationship between early hair loss and other diseases can only be understood to some extent.
In the future, it remains to be examined again the relationship about this and the various signs in more detail.
"Men with premature hair loss need not worry," Nothen said.
"The risk of the disease only increases slightly, but it is interesting to see that hair loss is not at all isolated characteristic, but it presents relationships with other characteristics."
This study offers new knowledge to look at the biological causes of hair loss by identifying the genes involved. Immune and fat cells in the scalp are clearly linked to this along with the follicle cells in the hair.
