Marriage Keeps Risk of Heart Disease
Marriage can protect a person from the development of heart disease or stroke. This is derived from a composite analysis of available data and published online in the journal Heart.
The vast majority (80 percent) of cardiovascular diseases are associated with risk factors such as age, sex, high blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, and diabetes. But it is unclear what affects the remaining 20 percent.
They saw 34 out of a total of 225 data published between 1963 and 2015 involving more than 2 million people aged 47-77 in Europe, Scandinavia, northern America, the Middle East and Asia.
Analysis of the data collected revealed that people who were not (never, divorced, or widowed and widowed) were at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease by 42 percent and coronary artery disease 16 percent than those who were married.
