Siblings Make Better Personality
Got a sister sometimes annoying. They tend to bawel, borrow goods without saying, or if you're a man, make trouble because often ask for help delivered.
Although sometimes annoying, it turns out to have a sister has its own benefits. In fact, research has found the various benefits a person can get from their sisters.
"They help you develop social skills, such as communication, compromise, and negotiation," says Alex Jensen, an assistant professor at School of Family Life at Brigham Young University, and author of a study on siblings' relationships, quoting the Huffington Post on Monday (28/5 / 2018).
Here's a list of reasons, why have a sister is very profitable:
- Boost mental health
Is sad? Contact his sister. A 2010 study published in the Journal of Family Psychology found, having a sister could improve her mental health and self-confidence.
Researchers from Brigham Young University found that having a sister protected you from feeling "lonely, unloved, guilty, not confident and afraid."
"What we found to conclude, sisters have a role in boosting mental health," says Jensen. "Later, sisters also often unite families and maintain silahturahmi after the death of the dead."
- More loving
The same study from Brigham Young University also found, having a sister could help you become a better and generous person. This is because, sisters turn out to encourage positive behaviors, such as compassion and sharing when they show affection and attention.
This effect is very strong, and can not even be achieved from the attention and affection we get from parents.
"While sometimes arguing, as long as there is still love, the positive effects will always be stronger," said lead researcher Laura Padilla-Walker, professor at BYU's School of Family Life at ABC News.
"When brothers and sisters argue, they have to control emotions, that is an important ability to learn," he continued.
