Kidney & Liver Supporting Detox Tea (Original Recipe - Steemit Exclusive)
You'll be pleasantly surprised to find that this detox isn't the gross chug-it-and-get-it-over-with type. It's delicious in addition to being good for you!
There are many reasons to detox toxins and chemicals from your body, but a few of the benefits include:
- Clearer skin (The skin is the largest organ, which is where toxins try to escape from. If there are lots in your body, you likely don't have the most healthy-looking skin.)
- Helps to reduce inflammation
- Helps weight loss and improves metabolism
- Encourages healthy kidney and liver function
- Preventative measure for kidney stones and UTIs
- Preventative measure for cancer and heart disease
- Increase energy and alertness
- Mood booster
- Improves digestion
- Should I keep going? The combination of these ingredients provide a plethora of health benefits, and even more when combined in this way.
Ingredients |
---|
Half your weight in ounces of distilled water (Ex: 100 lbs. = 50 oz. of water) |
3 Tbs. fresh-squeezed lemon juice |
3 Tbs. pure organic cranberry juice (no sugar added, not from concentrate) |
1 bag Traditional Medicinals "Everyday Detox" tea (pictured below) |
1 bag Traditional Medicinals "Throat Coat" tea |
1-2 Tbs. pure, unrefined organic honey |
Directions
- Boil 8-16 oz of distilled water. (It must be distilled, not purified, filtered, or tap water.) Pour the boiling water over the two tea bags and let brew for 10 minutes, covered. Note: You can find these tea bags at your local health food store, or online.
- Add lemon juice, cranberry juice, and honey, then stir to combine.
- Combine mixture with the remaining ounces of water. (I like putting this in a large jug so it's easy to take with me wherever I need to go.)
- Make sure to drink the entire mixture before the day is over. Drink your Detox Tea every day for 1 week. Do not continue the cleanse for more than a week because drinking distilled water for long periods of time can be harmful to your body. If you're interested read more on that here.
- Doing this detox just once isn't likely to provide noticeable results, so I recommend repeating it every two weeks. Listen to your body if that seems like too often and move to just once a month or every six weeks.
Helpful Hints to Make the Most of Your Detox
- Do not drink alcohol. This cleanse is intended to heal your kidneys and liver in addition to detoxing harmful chemicals/toxins, so don't counteract that work by stressing those organs.
- Avoid anything that contains caffeine during this week. Caffeine is a diuretic, which will cause you to be dehydrated.
- Do your best to cut out all forms of sugar. This includes soda, juice, candy, and especially artificial sweeteners. (sucralose, aspartame, high fructose corn syrup, etc. which also go by the names Splenda, Equal, Sweet 'n' Low, and others)
- Do not eat processed foods. This includes bread, pasta, fast food, chips, crackers, etc.
- Try to get 8 hours of restful sleep per night. Make sleep a priority so your body has time to heal itself!
- 60 minutes of exercise is recommended. Exercising during a detox helps get your blood pumping and is an opportunity to sweat out toxins you might be carrying around. Even if you can only get 20 minutes of cardio in, do it!
Have you read the new book called Medical Medium. Detox is essential in this toxic world.
I've read bits and pieces, but I need to sit down and read through it from start to finish. And absolutely! I've done various cleanses/detoxes in the past two years and it is surprising and disgusting what the results are. The craziest was the parasite cleanse. After the first round, I was having god-awful migraines and terrible nausea, but I didn't pass anything. After the second round, my body was disposing of them left and right! (TMI, sorry!)
Detoxing is never a bad thing! Even for those that feel completely healthy.
