CAUSES OF HAIR FALL AND TREATMENT OF HAIR FALL

in #health7 years ago

Many people experience hair loss at some point in their lives. Some end up bald while others give up after several treatments to prevent hair loss. The mistake that many people make is to opt the hair loss treatment without discovering the cause of it and ends up worsening their hair conditions. For instance, many people try simple oil-based remedies to treat hair fall, but this treatment can backfire if taken in case of fungal infection of ringworm in the scalp. The fungus feeds on oil and fats, and applying oil would simply mean feeding the disease more and help it grow.

Therefore, it is extremely important to discover the root cause of your hair loss before starting a treatment. You may know the cause, like in cases of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, growing age, certain treatments, and hairstyles. But in many cases, the patients don’t exactly know why they are losing hair.
In this case, the first most important thing to do is to choose your hair doctor wisely. It’s a good idea to not visit any hair doctor, but find a reputable specialist near your place who understands his business.
Following are the most common causes and reasons of hair loss with their fixing approaches:
• Physical and Mental Stress
While not all hair loss cases are related to this, it is an increasing cause of losing hair. Stress and anxiety can cause thinning and weakening of hair. It can also catalyze your hair fall happening for other reasons. You must stop overworking as a long-term practice, while caring for and listening to your body.
Many things can help you reduce stress, and it also varies from person to person. To name some, you may reduce stress by meditation, listening to soothing music, exercising, keeping your brain busy with constructive work, positive socializing, talk therapy, trying belly laughs, improving sleep patterns and mood boosting activities such as dancing and jumping jacks. The good thing is that your hair will grow back once you recover from your condition.
• Look out for your Vitamins
Excess amount of vitamin A intake can result in hair loss. The daily intake of vitamin A shouldn’t surpass 5 thousand IU. Lack of Vitamin B will also cause hair fall.
• Ringworms
Ringworm isn’t what it sounds like, but rather it’s a type of fungus that grows in your scalp. It feeds on the natural oil in your hair which causes dandruff and hair shedding. People use Listerine to remove the fungus, or vinegar to alter pH of scalp to inhibit its growth. It is advised to consult a doctor in such a case.
• In your Genes
The hair loss may be in the heredity of the patient, and this factor works differently in men and women. Minoxidil and finasteride can help reduce hair loss in case of Male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness.
• Being a mother
With all the perks and delights of being a mother, a lady may experience temporary hair loss. However, the good news is that it will recover and grow back within months.
• Being Anemic
More often in women than men, anemia can cause hair loss if you are iron deficient. A simple blood test will determine if you’re anemic.
Consult with your doctor and check for the symptoms of anemia. Upon discovery you can make use of iron supplements to cope up with it.
• It’s your Thyroid
Thyroid is an important gland for hormones production. If you have any disease related to thyroid gland it may not produce enough hormones for growth and development of the body, resulting in hair fall.
In such a case, medication will help to recover thyroid gland, which will eventually bring back your hair.
• Ovarian Cysts
Some people with a condition of ovary cyst may experience many symptoms including hair fall. Treating the problem can rebalance hormones of the body and help grow their hair back.
• Medication
Some forms of medications like blood thinners, blood pressure pills, and antidepressants can cause hair thinning and hair loss.
• Scalp conditions
Scalp inflammation and psoriasis can damage the scalp health and shed your hair. A physical test will be sufficient to determine the actual case, and can be treatment with exclusive medication and medicated shampoo.
Other less common reasons include over-styling your hair, Trichotillomania, a condition of pulling one’s hair impulsively, Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, and anabolic steroids.

Male pattern baldness is mostly due to DHT and there are several medicines but I think one should not opt for those medicines as those are having tremendous side effects and I would personally suggest to take flax seed which can check the hair fall due to DHT.

Most of the hair loss for men is from the breakdown of testosterone that creates a negative chemical (DHT) that causes hair to fall out. Minoxidil and Propecia / dutasteride block most of this. They forgot to mention that ZINC supplements can Also help.
