Don't Abuse Drugs!

When the word ‘Drug Abuse’ is mentioned, so many minds get wandered to the use of harmful substance like hard drugs.

Drug abuse is the misuse of any substance either hard drugs prescribed medications, alcohol or inhalants. Over time, there is an increased rate in the abuse of drugs and when the abuser is interviewed he says, “it was prescribed by the doctor in the hospital”.

Do you know that all drugs that can be used can also be abused and they have effects on the body as a whole?

Drugs can hurt all parts of your body and cause health problems. It can lead to disease like heart disease, stroke, cancer, HIV/AIDs, hepatitis, lung disease.

The effects of drugs on the mental health of a drug abuser includes;

  • Wild mood swing, People under the effect of hard drugs suffer mood swings frequently.
  • Depression
  • Aggressiveness; This is due to the violent attitude the hard drugs causes on the abuser’s behavior
  • Anxiety; A drug abuser suffers frequent anxiety and restlessness especially if he/she is addicted to the use of that drug.
  • Hallucination
  • Confusion

We have the physical effects of drug abuse

  • Drug abuse doesn’t literally mean a hard drug is involved. Over the counter drugs are usually abused, and their abuse causes risk of developing peptic ulcer disease.
    This is because the commonly used OTC drugs are analgesics and they can harm the gastro intestinal wall.

Stay safe, say no to drug abuse
Drugs abuse can cause constipation, abdominal pain, vomiting.
