Mesoprosol is a drug that helps the body contract the smooth muscles, especially in the uterus and stomach. The generic (proprietary) name is called misoprostol, while the brand name is Eprostol. Eprostol 200 contains misoprostol, 200 milligrams, a synthetic prostaglandin.

Thus, the drug is prescribed by healthcare professionals for women needing uterine evacuation, patients with gastric ulcers, and postpartum care (to control bleeding after birth).

It is used to prevent and treat gastric ulcers (stomach ulcers), medical abortion (with supervision), induction of labor (to induce labor), and postpartum hemorrhage (bleeding after birth) control.
