What is a obesity?

Obesity is a type of Medical ailment which occurs when there is an accumulation of excess fat in the body, to the extent that it affects the body negatively. It is diagnosed by calculating the Body Mass Index(BMI), which is a measure of the Total Body Weight, measured by dividing someone's Total Weight by the Total Height.

Causes of Obesity
  • Unhealthy diet
    Constant consumption of food high in Calories, Junk, fast food, Sugary drinks can cause one to gain weight excessively.

  • Inactivity
    If you don't exercise your body often, it can equally make you to gain calories which is in turn weight gaining.

  • Pregnancy
    Weight gained during pregnancy can be quite difficult to lose after having the baby and this can also cause Obesity.

  • Medications
    Some medicines like Steroids, antidepressants their side effects is that it makes one gain unhealthy weight.

How Obesity affects our health?

Obesity has an adverse effect on health, and some of the Effects includes the following.

  • Heart Diseases
    An obese patient is prone to developing blood pressure and high Cholesterol level which can trigger heart disease.

  • Cancer
    An Obese patient is also at the risk of developing Uterus, Ovary, Cervix and Prostate Cancer.

  • Quality of Life
    Obesity makes the Patient unable to perform certain tasks like running, walking, breathing well, gardening, dancing etc.

  • Fatty Liver Ailments
    It also triggers the risk of developing Fatty Liver Ailments which occurs as a result of large fat deposit in the Liver.

  • Osteoarthritis
    It also causes inflammation in the Joints, as a result of excess weight.

Some effective ways to get rid of this problem.

  • Dietary change
    You have to start by changing your eating pattern. Incorporate more fruits, Veggies and Grain in your daily meal plan. Avoid Junk food and processed food.

  • Exercise
    Exercise regularly, start by starting small and be consistent.

  • Sleep well
    Sleep for atleast 7 to 9 hours daily because lack of sleep can cause Obesity.

  • Medications
    Medications prescribed by a Doctor can equally be taken to reduce weight.
