The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Exodus 19, Post #1
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Exodus 19:1-6
Congrats if you are still with me because we just started a new chapter. Chapter 19 is the first of all, covering all that happened in the wilderness next to the Mountain of God. For the first time since Moshe (Moses) was called to go to Egypt, he is called up the mountain to meet with Elohim yet again, but now he has Israel with him.
First we read of the "when" - three months after having left Mitsraim (Egypt) - we see the people of Israel coming out of Rephidim and into the wilderness called Sinai (Sinai). I believe this is the same place that God initially called him from a burning bush. This time, The Creator gets straight to the point, the people camped there and Moshe went up to talk to Elohim. This is where YHVH lays out the covenant that Moshe needs to convey to the people. It is all in quotation marks.
In short, El Shaddai is reminding them that they themselves have seen the wonders he had done, what he did to the Mitsraim (Egyptians), and ey-Sah et'chEm ahl cah-n'Fay n'sha-Reem (bore you on eagles wings), and brought you to myself. All of that is the "Why". God let them know who he is and showed them what he can do. Next comes the proposal for a covenant.
For the above reason, "...if you will indeed obey my voice and keep b'ree-Tee (my covenant), you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine;"
That is the beginning of what God is laying out and I think we will be seeing many more instructions and terms presented, even including the ten commandments. There may be the words given to Moshe and then how Moshe presents the terms to the people. There will also be the people's reaction as well as other promises from the owner of the world.

On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. They set out from Rephidim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, and they encamped in the wilderness. There Israel encamped before the mountain, while Moses went up to God. YHVH called to him out of the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine;
