HeyCrim! Can you please update your blog already?

A long way to go, and more hills to climb. (Just the way I like it.)

Time flies when you're busy, doesn't it? I've been getting a ton of little pokes to check on me to see if I'm still functioning (mostly, on good days) and I realized that this might be a great time to break my unwritten "no boring-about-Crim's-life posts" and "create posts for others to step into and experience" rules to kind of lay out all of the hopes and dreams I've been working towards this last six weeks or so. If you're looking for beautiful photography, loud music, or steemy insights, close this post and run safely far, far away now, with the knowledge that those things will be returning to my page soon™! Otherwise, I wanted to kind of sum it all up, because the entirety of my last year has been shaped by my love of and participation in the Steem ecosystem, and I didn't want to leave that in a seemingly nebulous state for too long.

I bought a new place, sold the old one, and kind of almost made myself accidentally homeless.

Moving is ridiculous! I've been looking for space that fits my family better and that will give me more space to really focus on the stuff I love most: painting, working on graphic design, written story-telling, stunning photography, fun little videos, and creating engaging broadcast shows where I can entertain people (it does seem to be people laugh at me more than with me, but I'll take it!) and where I can spend time directly talking to users on and off the blockchain about the tech and philosophy of the Steem ecosystem. I figured if I sold my place over the summer, I would be able to take the time to find something new that will allow me to create a proper studio and let me get back to the create-y things that I truly love.

Well, it sold in six days, and I had to be out in three weeks. Oh. Poo.

It's been a mad scramble to find the right new place, let alone one that I could purchase and move into with so little notice. I got even luckier (read this in a super sarcastic tone while rolling your eyes heavenward with the weight of all the first world problems pressing a snarky sigh out of you) that the one that I found also had super fast and inflexible dates. So I went from "I will move this summer, I hope" into "well, I have to pay for this new place before the old place closes so get rekt, also, pack half a decade of your life into boxes in about fifteen days or get rekter." Anything I can recycle or give to someone else who will need or love it is flying out the door at the speed of light.

Neat! So I move in two days.

If you're around any of the communities, then you've likely seen or heard more from me than you'd like (don't think you'll actually ever escape, you fool.) I have still been doing my radio shows, still moderate where I can, and answer every DM that comes my way. Posting has gotten put on the backburner for a bit, as per usual, but I'm still here in every other capacity. Scripts are still running, websites are still trucking, servers are still beep booping, curation is still dooting, and I remain, as always, at your service.

I am going to miss how beautifully suited my old place was for us, but new opportunities and all that... it also means that maybe there will be some how-not-to renovation tutorials in the future as I destroy get settled. I will have space to paint more often and will force myself to actually do it, and I will be sorting through photography for prints, which always inspires sharing the stories they secretly hold. I want to hug all your faces in Thailand. I've been working on some fun designs for merchandise, and there's just a lot of things that have been slowed to a crawl that are just waiting to get rolling. I'm looking forward to unpacking it all again. 🖤

Looking forward to hearing more broring from you as I have trouble sleeping and yaaaawn this should help a lot. Thanks!

Now go get packing so your next posts can be on the "best markers for box labeling" and "the proper way to fold the tape end so it is easy to use next time".

Hope you are well :*

did I mention there's an MMA gym in jogging distance from the new place and I'm going to join it to up my sparring game? 🤔 no reason.

You laugh now, but you're going to be so excited when I make a post about how I nearly eviscerated myself trying to remove a full wall mirror or how I managed to mortar a chunk of my hair into my fireplace.

WOw things sure moved fast for you and I look forward to new posts with further stories of the move and the new place I am sure before to long you will have it all setup as you want it and loving the new place

Thanks! I want to imagine you are correct and it will be no time at all BUT it took me about 45 minutes this morning to find deodorant so I don't have high hopes 😂

Trust me I have moved so many times over the years I have lost count, and not being able to find the odd thing is totally the norm :)

I kinda thought you had already left the platform (which would've been really rude without a proper goodbye) but I'm glad you haven't.

Didn't know you had so much stuff going on in your life. Moving sure is tough as hell, but if the new place makes you happier, why not?

Glad to have you back with us Crim! :)

I'm always here, clinging to the rafters like some sort of lovecraftian horror, never you fear. Er, well... you know. But yeah, I realize the appearance that I bounced is crappy and I know I have to find a way to make that known without just shitposting about it here. I realize that despite that many days I'm talking directly to/working directly with steemians, it's not always on blogging interfaces, and that looks and seems crummy to those who I've missed saying hello to in a while! There's always lots on the go, but the underlying steem/witness/community love stuff is always there. Lurking. I mean, hanging. I mean, waiting. Or whatever.

Lol, I like how you wrote that. Always a little extra, aren't ya Crim? Haha!

Anyway, it's nice to know that you are still active with other steemians even if it's not on the platform itself. But yeah, when you haven't posted in a while, it does give out that vibe that you might have left already. Glad to know that's not the case :)

I think SEVEN77 is calling you...

Saw your link on Twitter and clicked the link and I saw 777 in your post

WOO HOO, a Crim update!
Murph dog looks just so uncomfortable in that picture... :-)
Good luck with your "crazy short time to move" moving, I hope you have enough help and enough energy to get it done without too much stress and headaches.

he's having a time with all of this, given that it's actually his house and all. His routines are all sorts of fucky and he's made it clear he's exasperated with the whole situation. However, I've promised if we have a new studio office that he can start posting again, provided they're shit posts that don't take him days to write. Mamma needs her computer, dammit~

So glad to hear it’s going well and you sneaked in a blog post! You go girl!

Yay! You blogged! Good luck with the move. That's a lot to handle in a short period of time, but hella fast manifesting. ;) Glad you're hanging in there. (((hugs)))

It's honestly for the best... I have zero right to complain, and am mostly not. I shall take the hug and pack it up with my little crystal in my sparkly things dish to sit on the shelf in the sun in the new kitchen, so thank you for both. I'm really just anxious to be more widely useful again, instead of just wide.

High praise, coming from someone like you, who is excellent at mindfulness~ I think this has all been hella.... Manifast.

sees myself out down the invisible set of stairs behind the couch, sad trombone brrraps in the distance

I get that stink eye from Sam every now and again. Often when he thinks it's time to walk. Or when I consider a people nap on his couch.

This should be a fun weekend for you :) I'm guessing sleep is a possibility but somewhere outside the realm of probability.

Just think: when you are my age it makes a great story. I once moved 100 miles on Christmas Day. With a snowstorm thrown in just for sport.

Always good to hear from you. I hope it goes well...

Murphy remains largely in one of three categories at any given time:

  • Hurf
  • Durf
  • Derp

He occasionally spices each up with a dose of annoyance, innocence, or indifference as necessary. I think he believes, much as I do, that you are clearly made of much sterner stuff and have paid your good story dues. On that plus side, I think I can fit pretty much everything in a single fat van load, and I'm a lazy fuck, so sleep is very much happening.

Well you truly got lucky. The last two times we sold our house we were truly homeless before getting possession of the new house. Most recently I was without for 3 weeks. My wife had got a job 3500km away and started work 4 months before I got the house sold.

Ok, that is wild! did your wife take the job, necessitating the sale, or did it just not line up that well after you accepted an offer and you had to hold down the fort? I live in BC, Canada, so the real estate market has two modes: stuck on the market forever, or people lining up early and looking like they'll fistfight over the chance to put in a pre-pre-open house offer.

I'm also curious if you stayed in a hotel and how you handled your possessions. The logistics of all that is even more mind blowing... As much as it sound like I'm kvetching about this going at the (relative) speed of light, I'm thankful I will be able to enter the summer without it hanging over my head.

Yes, my wife took the job and was able to stay with family. Me and the b-dog had to pack and purge so the flooring could be redone. Packed everything into a 20 ft container which we were able to store for three weeks. Kenneled the dog for three weeks and I stayed with family before the b-dog and I flew out. Calgary was buyers market and took 2 months to sell and the London market was crazy sellers market. Houses were listed and realtor would show for about a week then accept offers for 4 hours on set date.

The girl likes a challenge.. 15days is too much time. the girl moves in two days.. hahaha.
Looking forward to more adventures.

I know the accidental homeless thing is very real because past one month ive been living in a hotel. sigh

Oh!! Ive managed to keep myself alive too.
:-)

So nice to see your blog.

I'm actually happy with this all going this fast as it eliminates the guesswork and means my summer will be free and open... but okay, what's your story then? Last we talked I think it was after your birthday and you'd won a recognition award for your work! Hopefully the hotel living is because you're in transition between good new things 🤞

Well a lot happened actually.. I quit, moved to new city, new job, got my ass handed over to me by family, laptop crashed, almost got married, survived harsh climate, stayed at my directors house for a week.
But not in that particular order.

You know the regular stuff.. :-)
Come to think of it most happening year of my life. I guess. Don't know what to make of it.. :-)

Now that I have complained I feel a little good. :-)

Seeing your blog frequency I can only assume that work is still a priority for you :-)
