Hello #steemit team,
This is @alfazmalek from #India,
Today I want to share your Physiotherapy Learning Challenge with people. Pain is an important signal of our body, which tells us that something is not right. Pain can be of many types and it is very important to understand its type and character so that the right intervention can be done.
| Task 1 - Knowledge About Pain, Type and Pathology
Pain is the result of signaling of our nervous system. In the acute pain, the body alerts the brain through inflammation and pain recipes. Chronic Pain has Central Sensitization, ie Pain Signals repeatedly go to brain and spinal cord, which causes pain to be persisted. Pain is constantly felt due to Chronic Inflammation and Sensitized Pain Receptors. Pain is fifth vital sign which is recently added.
Types of Pain
Pain is mainly of two types - Acute and Chronic.
Acute Pain: It suddenly comes and is fast. For example, there is an acute pain when hurt or tissue damage. It is the warning signal of the body that it has been injury. The acute pain usually lasts from a few days to a few weeks and becomes heal quickly.
Chronic Pain: It lasts for a long period, sometimes for months or years. Chronic Pain is often from an untreated acute pain or degenerative changes such as arthritis, nerve damage or Spine/Joint Problems. It remains persistent and sometimes feels as both pain and stiffness.
Character of Pain
Pain has some common characters who help us understand:
Radiating: The pain spreads from a specific area to the surrounding parts.
Burning: Sometimes there is a sensation like burning or heat in pain.
Sharp: Fast and stabbing pain, often feels at the time of Sudden Injury.

| Task 2 - Patient History (Example)
I recently saw that Aunty of my neighborhood had Knee Pain. He told that the knee sometimes becomes stiff and slightly painful, especially when sitting and wakes up. Pain was dull and sometimes radiating. He told that this pain has been for the last few months and has been increasing gradually. I assessed by asking his history and symptom and saw that this is the pain of Chronic Type.
I checked the mobile of Aunty's knee and found that there is Stiffness in Flexion and Extension. Then I gradually exercised them. In this:
Knee flexion-extension: bend and straighten the knee slowly.
Gentle massage: to reduce swelling and tightness.
I explained to Aunty in every step to slow down and stop having more pain. Within a few minutes he felt mild rest. It shows that under-based basic intervention can also be given temporary relief in Pain.
Learning and observation
From this experience I learned that:
Proper Assessment is very important. Taking a history from the patient and understanding the type and character of the pain is the first step.
Patience and Consistency in Chronic Pain are very important. Short-Term is patiently motivated from Relief.
Basic interventions such as flexion-extection exercises, gentle massage, and stretching can also be effective at home.

| Task 3 - Intervention / Pain Relief
In Pain Relief, not only medicines, but physiotherapy exercises and patient education are also very important. Proper Guidance can also exercise the patient itself and gradually reduce the pain. In the Acute Pain, the Protocol of Cold Pack or Hot Pack should be followed, and in Chronic Pain, muscles flexibility and exercises that increase the Joint Mobility are effective.
| Conclusion
This experience taught me a lot. Physiotherapy is not limited to clinic only, but also from simple exercises and observations at home can give a lot of relief to the patient. By managing Aunty's Knee Pain, I saw that significant improvement can come from Patience, Proper Assessment and Correct Exercises. It was also proved that the Consistency approach is the most important in Chronic Pain.
This experience made me more confident that I can apply my knowledge to Pain Management and Physiotherapy Interventions even further. Understanding the pain, analyzing his type and character, and doing the correct intervention is part of the core of Physiotherapy.
I invite my friends @walictd, @sualeha, and @hina-imran to try these simple techniques and participate in the Steemit Learning Challenge too. Taking care of our body is very important, and small efforts daily can make a big difference.
THANK YOU

Hi @alfazmalek
The main thing to share in this challenge is to perform exercises or apply a hot or cold pack to your affected body part. But you didn't follow the rules and guidelines. It would be better to include pictures, videos, or GIFs in Task 3; otherwise, your participation will be considered invalid. You shared a great post, it would be better to edit your post by tomorrow, otherwise I won't consider it.
