I woke up at 6:00 AM today; there was a light drizzle outside. The weather had turned quite cool, so I switched off the coolers in both my room and the children's room. I was in a dilemma about whether or not to send my son to school. I kept watching constantly, hoping the rain would stop and a faint ray of sunshine would appear so I could send him off.

The rain didn't stop, so he didn't go to school. Then, I made some tea. We both had our tea, and he left for the shop. I started using my phone; I had placed my glasses nearby, and as I reached out, my hand accidentally knocked against them, and one of the arms of my glasses snapped off.

Since I cannot work on my phone without my glasses, I was quite distressed, wondering how I would manage without them. However, my son used Feviquick to glue the broken arm back onto the glasses. I was relieved and happy, thinking, "Great! Now I can get my work done."

Today, I made Aloo Parathas (potato-stuffed flatbreads) for breakfast. We all had our breakfast, and then I took some breakfast along and headed out to the shop. I went and told my husband about the glasses, and he said, "It's no big deal; your work hasn't come to a halt—it's still going on for the time being." I read the newspaper for a little while.

Then I returned home and prepared breakfast for the children. This evening, our entire family was scheduled to attend a Kirtan (devotional singing session). Since we had invitations to two different places, my husband and I went to one venue, while I sent both my children to the other. After all, it is important to make an appearance at every invitation. I got ready by 7:30 PM. We took bananas to offer as Prasad (sacred offering), and we gave bananas to the children to offer as well. My husband also brought along some strawberries to offer alongside the bananas.

Then we set off. A recitation of the Sundarkand was taking place. The shrine of the deity was beautifully decorated, and the place was packed with a large crowd. We all thoroughly enjoyed the Sundarkand recitation with great devotion and joy. The Aarti (ritual lamp ceremony) took place at 9:30 PM; everyone participated in the Aarti, and afterward, we all partook of the Prasad.

I called my children to ask how much longer the event would take; they replied, "Not long now, Mom—just a little while." So, my husband and I quickly collected the prasad from where we were and hurried over to join the children. This ensured that we could mark our presence there as well, so that no one would feel offended that we had failed to show up despite being invited. Once there, we participated in the aarti and partook of the prasad.

Arrangements for a meal had been made as part of the prasad distribution; since the hosts were a family living right next to the shop, they wouldn't let us leave without having a meal. We ate, accepted the prasad, took our leave, and returned home. When we arrived home, my husband gave me a new pair of glasses, saying, "Now you won't have any trouble." That is how my day unfolded today.
